BigRedBuster
Sounds like a very mature young man. Glad he is going to be at Nebraska. Quote Link to comment
IllinioisHusker
Neal said Michigan came in and said that if it wasn't for football, he wouldn't get into Michigan. Neal felt like they were calling him poor and dumb. That ended the wolverines chances. According to his dad Michigan was basically escorted out of his home after that statement. 3 Quote Link to comment

Red Five
That was Mattison (former DC, now DL coach) who said that, right? Quote Link to comment

BigRedBuster
Listen very carefully to the attitude instate recruits have about how our staff has recruited them. That has to change and I think Riley will attempt to make that happen. No, I'm not saying every above average kid in Nebraska should get a scholarship offer. But, the really good ones, should feel like they are really wanted. Quote Link to comment
ADS
There's a fine line between being honest and coming off as a huge douche. When keeping it real goes wrong: Michigan edition. 1 Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Maybe Mattison is right about Neal. But is that really the sales pitch you use? Wow. Quote Link to comment
huskerhill
I'm guessing he described as an opportunity and most likely it worked for a number of recruits... It would appear that Daishon is smarter than they thought by reading between the lines. Quote Link to comment

Wow....that is an impressive recruiting tactic. It seems to me like he was trying to say that Michigan was a great academic school and Daishon's grades were not good enough to merit entry. Fortunately, through football, he could have access to that level of education. I understand it was not taken that way but I doubt that Mattison would shove his foot that far in his mouth. This is not his first rodeo. edit: huskerhill beat me to it. Darn my slow fingers... Quote Link to comment

It would appear that Daishon is smarter than they thought by reading between the lines. Of course that is what he was getting at. But, it came off as an insult. It also confirms what many believe about these schools that normally have high entrance standards and still have good sports teams. If you are good at sports, they will figure out a way to get you in. Just because a football player played for Stanford (for instance) doesn't mean he is as smart as the average Stanford student. 1 Quote Link to comment
