tmfr15
Predicting next year's record is complete folly. And it would seem like 6-6 would be a scorched earth scenario. But now hear this... BYU, toss up because its the opener. Miami at Miami. Iowa, Minnesota and Northwestern could all be adventures. They have been in the past. And then Wisky and Michigan State. There is ample room for things to go bad. IF Riley is true to what he says and molds his system to fit our guys and doesn't do the whole round peg and square hole deal.... well, the sky is the limit. I really want to see Riley coach the guys up and adapt his system to what we do best. Quote Link to comment
GoBeavs
This is an accurate thread, although some of you have some misconceptions of facilities at OSU. Banker is correct. It was time to move on. Here a couple of links for you to view. It has been suggested that OSU facilities are not comparable to what is "down the road." Well who has facilities like that? I have been in most of the failities in Corvallis. The basketball practice facility has a good sized weightroom, and one floor for the women, and upstairs a second floor for the men. An indoor practice facility that Dennis Erickson compared to what the St Louis Rams have, and the Valley Football Center, with meeting rooms, coaches offices, and a weightroom. (It is named for a founding member of the Oakland Raiders, Wayne Valley, ex OSU) It will be getting a 35 million dollar upgrade and expansion beginning next month. http://www.pure-orange.net/cgi/anyboard.cgi/bscpigskin?cmd=get&cG=73530303&zu=37353030&v=2&gV=0&p= http://www.pure-orange.net/cgi/anyboard.cgi/bscpigskin?cmd=get&cG=73438313&zu=37343831&v=2&gV=0&p= http://www.pure-orange.net/bscpigskin/index.html Quote Link to comment

Stumpy1
I say 6-6 next season and maybe a bowl if we are lucky. Got any money you'd like to lose because your prediction is... what comes out of the south end of a horse headed north. T_O_B Depends...Is the horse walking backwards? Need more details. Stumpy1
I just hope Eichorst can provide this staff with every single resource that they ask for, and then go out of his way to provide them with resources that they DIDN'T ask for. This is the only way we can succeed - the whole department has to be on board. The only way to overcome the negative inertia, the recruiting disadvantages, the perception disadvantages, etc is to overwhelm those disadvantages by throwing our best shots at them. Recognizing the deficiencies that come with being a major college program located in Lincoln, Nebraska in the year 2014 - and not denying them or putting our heads in the sand - but confronting those challenges head-on. You hired these guys, they are buying in 100%, and really are excited and want to be there. Now, Shawn Eichorst, SUPPORT THEM. With everything you've got and more. eichorst needs to support riley like the medically-required, industrial strength bra my wife wears. Pics or GTFO Quote Link to comment

I'll bet you $1,000 we will win more than 6 games. Maybe a mod can hold our checks and at the end of the year the winner gets 2 checks back. Money order or cashiers checks only. 2 Quote Link to comment

Yep. One thing Nebraska can never be faulted for are the facilities, the stadium and the academic support. We meet or exceed anyone in those spots. Quote Link to comment
GoBeavs
Those of you who think Nebraska has comparable training facilities to the uo, let us begin the discussion with waterfalls. What uo has is nothing short of WOW!!! Apparently they think it helps recruit. You can see some images on the internet. Just type in University of Oregon Training Facility. I couldn't even afford to vacation in that place. And then understand they have more than one building. You will like Coach Riley. About as decent a man as there is. Quote Link to comment

The King
It's news to us Oregon State grads and fans that losing to Sac State and Eastern Washington was due to the athletic department putting a few bucks into basketball. Sorry, but I rolled my eyes at his comments. Football, like at most places, got the lion's share of the money. Banker is a crap coach and crap recruiter. He's why when you read about OSU's past studs, you never see a defensive guy mentioned. I like the Riley hire for DONU. I hate that he brought Banker. 8 of the 18 players from OSU in the NFL are defensive guys... Nebraska 12/22. Given that Banker had no where near the talent (check the recruiting sites) or resources (Given that you're an OSU alum, prior to a couple weeks ago, you know they had sh#t resources and sh#t facilities. Cliff Harris said it best, OSU is the little brother you beat up on in the backyard) I'd say they did pretty well getting that many players into the L. They might not be stars, but they got in there as much lower ranked prospects with few exceptions. OSU has little money and they take from that money and divide it elsewhere leaving the program where it was..no new facilities, upgrades, etc..which is the what stalled out recruiting. I think he was quite accurate & honest about his assessment of OSU as a football school... it's not. Except they do have new facilities and upgrades. The new indoor facility and weight room are far from sh#t. They also have more money than some of the programs that defeated them. So no, he's not accurate. Which was noted in the post, by the bold. And the recent 35 million upgrade was announced AFTER Riley left, was it not? Are you honestly telling me that OSU's facilities compare to Oregon, UCLA, UW, USC. Here, I know this is old - which is why I've said OSU isn't the worst in the pac 12, but its only 2 years old - but TWO years ago, they were second worst in the pac 12 behind WSU As the NFL idiots would say, "c'mon man" http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/39957/ranking-pac-12-football-facilities Quote Link to comment

lo country
Real quick to the recruiting. As it relates to blue chip players (4 and 5 stars), OSU is at a whopping 2% or 11th in the PAC 12. This was 2013-2014. NU is like 30% or 3rd in the B1G. Comparing stars to stars, Riley seems to be able to do more with less ie talent, facilities etc...... Quote Link to comment

Id just like to see a better example than waterfalls. Waterfalls dont win championships. We put ours in in 2006 and still aint got sh#t. Quote Link to comment
