Redux
SEC won 7 straight titles. Yes, Ohio State won the title, but Ohio State is a member of the Big Ten, so the Big Ten won the first CFP title. Why can't people agree with that? Because 7 straight among multiple teams is a league effort. Until another Big Ten team wins the playoff next year this was a solo effort by the Buckeyes. So we need to win won next year then? Another Big Ten team needs to win one. Then we can start discussing "Big Ten Dominance". Until then this is just a nice rebound for Ohio State considering where they were in 2011. Redux
I am gonna bet that recruiters use conferences as recruiting tools: The chance to play in the SEC is touted as high-visibility every Saturday and a pipeline to the NFL The chance to play in the Pac-12 offers a more wide-open game for players of certain talents, and vacation destination at most campuses. And if a recruit is known to be considering a team in another conference, I have no doubt a Pac 10 or SEC recruiter would try to portray the Big 12 as a conference in disarray, and the Big 10 as a dinosaur, being left behind by the current college game. Ohio State's win is nothing but good for Nebraska. Im all for it boosting recruiting. But kids arent all that stupid. This needs to happen more consistently and not just tOSU. Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
Kids are being told lots of things that aren't necessarily valid, but play to their emotions. And whatever is trending on Twitter. Can't imagine any Big 10 recruiter not bringing a little extra swagger this morning. Quote Link to comment

Can't imagine any Big 10 recruiter not bringing a little extra swagger this morning. I mentioned this very same thing a week or so ago. I would hope our recruiters are smart enough to use a Big Ten Natty as a persuasive tool even though Nebraska and tOSU never crossed paths. Recruitments about selling your product. Still though it would be great to get to the point where the B1G sells itself. Thats where we and a lot of other teams need to get better. Quote Link to comment
San Diego Husker
Indiana almost beat Ohio st in Columbus and Penn St forced overtime. Two bad teams. Lets not put Ohio st up on some invinsible pedestal. College Football isuch more competitive and the gap is much closer than that. Hold your knees down and gain some perspective and your angst over the future will calm back to a healthy level. Ohio st isnt gonna win the next 200 games and 17 national championships. comes down to who's peaking at the right time. OSU peaked at end of season, the team that lost to Va Tech would have been blown out by Oregon. Good coaches will always have their team playing the best ball at the end of the season. Congrats to Urban and his crew for doing just that! Now Urban, feel free to retire back to the broadcast booth... lol. Quote Link to comment

But they also steadily and constantly improved to the point that it appears anyone couldve been their QB. Remember how garbage their Oline was against VaTech? I mean, that was pitiful. Yet, last night that was a well-oiled machine. Something we just havent seen around here in so damn long is steady improvement throughout the year. Quote Link to comment
The Dude
It's a great thing for the conference, there's no doubt about that. Not sure why Ohio State winning a title is the thing that would make anyone realize we've been left behind in recruiting. It's been plainly obvious on the football field since Callahan's recruits graduated. Quote Link to comment

True, but name one team in the country in any given year that could have accomplished what Ohio State did with their 3rd string QB. Our 95' team would have easily won the NC with Matt Turman at the helm. However, I really can't think of any other past NC in the last couple of decades that could say the same. You are right. Ohio State will not win the next 200 games and 17 NC's. However, the question should really be which B1G team and when will hand Meyer his first regular season conference loss? Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
OSU got better as the season played out, they peaked and were healthy and Cardale was developing all year long.....they got coached up, all of them, to play! Quote Link to comment

Fast Jimmy
It's all cyclical. Can't believe you compared Nebraska to Vandy... even indirectly. I'm happy as hell for OSU, Wisconsin, and MSU. Balls of steel! Oh, and we played a very tough team all the way to the end. Go B1G!!!! Quote Link to comment
DrunkInBottoms
tl;dr Beating the defending national champions in the Big 10 champions would make us relevant and help us.. Quote Link to comment
RunMickeyRun02
I look at it this way. When Florida State won the NC last year did I go "Holy crap! That ACC is AWESOME!" ? Nah, not really. I imagine many outside of our conference are doing the same thing this year only with the Big Ten in the ACC's place. 1 Quote Link to comment
TonyStalloni
It wasn't only OSU winning the natty that raises Big 10 stock. Having 6 teams win bowl games when all 11 were the underdogs going in that pushes the conference up a notch. And our game vs USC was a good one and could have gone our way. 4 Quote Link to comment
