Comish Posted February 7, 2015 Share Posted February 7, 2015 I really hate to state this...........but I can't see them winning another game this season (maybe the bunny bracket of the conference tourney), but with really nothing on the line, and even our home games vs Wisky, Iowa, and Maryland very difficult......they may just check out. They have made this "road game difficulty" into such a mental block, it's almost unfathomable. And their basketball IQ at crunch time is embarrassing. Quote Link to comment

If you think we have a chance to go to the DANCE, you are drinking too much Red cool-aid. Same responses every time we lose. Relax and give Miles a chance to build his team. I, for one, am not so frustrated with just the losing, but it's the MENTAL mistakes that a Div 1 team (especially with all the returning veterans) continue to make. I am a huge supporter of Miles, but that doesn't mean he is above a little criticism. Next year certainly looks much brighter with more scoring options, but still will lack a Big Man presence. Sure he is not playing as well as last year but he is on a two man team. Pitchford is just killing us. Missing his 10-12 points from last year and having him stretch the floor in my opinion has been one of the biggest reasons for our struggles. Hopefully we finish the season strong. We actually look better on the offensive end. We had wide open shots all day. I really feel sorry for Petteway & Shields, because they have no one else. In fact, Petteway passes the ball more when Smith & Webster is in the game. Probably because he can trust them. The future looks good and I hope Petteway plays for the Huskers next year. NebraskaHarry Posted February 8, 2015 Share Posted February 8, 2015 Seems like way too often we walk to ball up the court and there's no movement until 15 seconds on the clock. Half the play clock is standing around. We have one guy who tries to consistently attack the basket and that's Shields. And then at least last year when we did attack the basket we could kick the ball to either Petteway or Gallegos and they could hit those shots. Now it's just Petteway and he's usually just standing around anyway with the other 3 guys. There's no offensive movement... and we don't attack. Unfortunately I don't think we can attack they way good teams do because we don't have a pure point guard. Our ball handling skills from our guards are average at best. We need a guy or two that are able to get up the court with the ball in their hands quickly. The only reason we've won more games than we have is because of Petteway. Not a good distributor and tends to do a lot of standing around, but when you need to him to score he usually can. I'll take Petteway's 20 ppg. No complaints there, but give me a 3 more guys who can consistently get in that 10-15 point range and a few guys who can come off the bench to score a few points. It's just blah. Miles needs better recruits and an actual offense to run. Quote Link to comment
