Armstrong progressed but then he digressed. Then progressed. Then digressed. I'm not convinced he should be the starter.

Let's just put this to rest. Who you gonna trot out there? Ryker Fyfe? Dude isn't better than Armstrong. Darlington? He's one head to the turf from being done for life. Bush? Dude would be a pick machine. No touch. Please tell me who is fit to lead besides Tommy.

I hear Drew Brown may be looking for a new position
That's just uncalled for man. Tommy played his heart out and led this team as well as just about anyone could if you ask me. No excuses can be made, we had the chance to put em away and we didn't. But I'm gonna credit BYU for the plays they made instead of calling our guys out. They played hard, and that game was one of the more fun games I've witnessed. Absolutely nothing to hang our heads about. Get back to work and move on. I feel like Huskernation always has our foot on the ledge and we jump at the first sign of trouble and it gets real old real quick.

I am happy with the halftime adjustments. We played shutout D until we switched to prevent. We started running the ball again, but I see a few things to hang our heads over:

  • 12 penalties,
  • 0-2 on field goals, and
  • 5 DBs standing in the back of the end zone discussing what to eat for dinner while the winning pass sails through the air to an open receiver.

I blame a lot of this on the front four of our OL. I never seen tommy be rushed as much as he did this game. I think their 91 was on our side more times then his own.

.

I agree. I'm not the biggest TA fan, but he had people coming at him throughout the game. Serious OL issues. The question is: were the issues a result of BYU blitz packages and our OL's inexperience as a group, or is the OL just not as good as we'd like.

Supposedly Bronco is genius with the blitz packages, but I don't know enough football detail to say. I still think TA could have cause a lot of damage by running sooner. Several times he started running too late and got caught from behind.

I didn't realize how inexperienced our OL is. Outside of Lewis (who isn't bad, but is always good for a penalty and complete whiffs each game), I believe the most starts any of them had before today was 2. I was hoping they would look a little better, but hopefully they can get it figured out in the next few games.

And you're basing this on what exactly?

I don't understand people being upset about this at all, honestly. First game with a new coaching staff against a good opponent and you happen to lose on a fluke play after fighting through some ugliness and showing good adjustments and resiliency?

I had a blast and am not perturbed by this in the slightest. Not because of blind faith in Riley, but because this doesn't mean anything.

I am really upset. We had an opportunity to score a touchdown, go up by eight, an win going away. Starting off the season with a happy fan base and a confident team. Instead, we shank a FG, that we should have never attempted, and allowed a true freshman to drive 76 yards in 48 seconds with no timeouts. The hail mary was the worst play I have ever seen in my life. The QB had all day to throw. The receivers had plenty of time to set up in the end zone, and there was not a single husker in front of the receiver. The ball hit the receiver in the stomach with a single defender immediately behind him, and five additional huskers standing in the back of the end zone.
