What Did We Learn: Iowa Edition

Recommended Posts

Nebraska could have beaten two Top 5 teams this year. Defense and Special Teams came to play. OL and Imani played well. WR were alright, not great. TA was the difference in this loss. He has all the arm talent and running ability you want but makes too many bad throws. Langsdorf switched from a power run offense against Michigan St and Rutgers to a pass first offense. Still, it was effective as Nebraska gained 433 yards and 22 first downs (almost 200 more yards and twice as many first downs as Iowa). However, while effective, this game plan highlights TA's weaknesses.

If the Queen had a d$@k she'd be the King.

Offense -

  • Tommy could have had 7 picks today. I think he's done.
  • Tommy had time, but it looked like several receivers stopped or don't try to get open. I just seemed as much as hard as the Iowa DB's were breaking, that a double move may have worked a few times.
  • The 4th and 1 fade was the worst play call I have seen this year.

Defense-

  • I hope all that Gerry is throwing games garbage can be put to rest. The big plays in the second half probably wouldn't have happened.

Special Teams -

  • Its tough not being able to kick touchbacks.
  • Brown has really turned things around.
  • Fire 2

It was obviously NOT effective. If we run the same offense that we did against MSU, there are sure as sh#t fewer interceptions. What coach in their right mind, with the crappy weather we had today, runs a throw heavy scheme?

Langs' two pass heavy days were in the cruddiest weather.

Good thing the weather wasn't like Oklahoma 1991, Langs would have thrown 65 times
