Landlord
I think there's like 6 recruits in the whole world who know a single word of our fight song. People still wear beanies 1 Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
You're 100% right. Please call the athletic department tomorrow morning and ask them to reach out to every fan/media outlet to get them to stop. I thought I'd start with this board. Your way sounds a lot easier. 1 Quote Link to comment
secretasianman
Hey, maybe we could be like the Old Mississippi Rebels and call ourselves Ole Neb! Or maybe Ole Husk.. that sounds cool. Dear Ole Neb Seriously though, I like Dear Old Nebraska U. Reminds me of something like THE Ohio State.. It's unique. It's better than NU, everybody else in the conference thinks Northwestern when they hear NU.. As for the fight song, if you look at the words for most college fight songs, they're all old school. mrandyk
I'll use this as an opportunity to state my distaste for people referring to the school as NU rather than the correct UN. Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
This is just weird. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
This is just weird. I know, right? I thought I'd have more on my side. Oh well. I'll cringe in silence from now on. Quote Link to comment
Husker NoNo
Favorite off-season thread thus far! As an alum, I don't mind it. But I don't really know why anyone uses it. I haven't seen it on any university materials or anything. It just seems like we are talking about an abbreviation a few fans use on a message board. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
As a life long fan and alum, I love our fight song and like the phrase " dear ol Nebraska U". It reminds me that this school has a long rich history and not just on the football field. I think I'll start using it more. Quote Link to comment

Yes, I realize I wasn't very clear, but I was talking about it's use here. Quote Link to comment

NUance
This is the consumate off-season thread. A topic worthy of much consideration during the months between NSD and the Spring Game. +1 to the OP. FWIW, the term DONU does sound a bit antiquated. But I've never really seen DONU anyplace other than on message boards. So there's that. 1 Quote Link to comment
NUinID
Times changes and the University needs to up it's game. Something like: Totally Sick Nebraska U Bro or TSNUB Quote Link to comment
okaive
Every time I see DONU and being retired military, I automatically think of Department of Nebraska University (and I don't want to have any Department of anything thoughts in my head). Quote Link to comment
