Trump's America

We say we want America run more like a business, and to let Trump be the head businessman, but nothing he's advanced makes sense on even the simplest business level. We are pursuing the massive financial undertakings of healthcare, immigration reform (multi-billion dollar wall and huge personnel increase), tax reform and the federal budget itself with virtually no cost/benefit analysis. There's not a CEO in America who would be allowed to move as quickly and vindictively with other people's money on the line.

Does anybody really want America run like a business? Not much democracy or liberty in a business.

That's the latest revision. This Administration needs to get the right answers hammered into them by the public response before begrudgingly ceding some ground through minor side channels.

Those side channels at the outset, as confirmed by several outlets:

It was only after a day of criticism that the White House — but, crucially, not Trump himself — clarified that when he condemned violence and bigotry on “many sides,” “of course that includes white supremacists, KKK, neo-Nazis and all extremist groups.”

We also know exactly what the white supremacists felt about Trump's response: they loved it (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/08/13/one-group-loved-trumps-remarks-about-charlottesville-white-supremacists/?utm_term=.bb851b8b86b8). This has gone FAR, far past "it's an accident" territory with this Administration.

Glad you liked the video, Coach! That was produced by the U.S. in the WWII era. These are the battles we must fight again and again, generation after generation. Values wither when left untended.

That's the thing. Conservatives, especially those who watch Fox News, have been conditioned to believe that Black Lives Matter is as evil as the alt-right. They see them as the exact, polar opposite of those hate groups. There's a sense of 'They're getting what they deserve' in all the temporizing, all the failures to condemn.

It's exactly the kind of #fakenews Trump has been spouting off about, but since conservatives don't consume anything but conservative propaganda, they have no way of knowing that they're being lied to.

Ronald Reagan had something to say about these people.

Another takeaway from Reagan denouncing racists is this: That was 30 years ago, and they were dealing with the same problems. We will never get rid of racism. Us vs. Them is ingrained in our DNA since before our ancestors came down out of the trees. All we can do is fight against it wherever we see it.
