knapplc
The only reason I would think this is understandable is if she did that to get close enough to Graham to whisper, "I know it was you, Fredo." 3 Link to comment

Plus, seeing Justin Amash text AOC during this gives me hope that if Trump's GOP is crushed bipartisanship maybe isn't totally dead. Like, they couldn't be more starkly different ideologically, but they're still clearly friends. That is cool. Link to comment

I like your optimism, but strong bipartisan divide existed before Trump and helped Trump get elected. Trump is not the cause of it even though he has made it more extreme. 3 Link to comment

I don't think we're suddenly in for some era of grand bipartisanship and consensus seeking, I'm just hopeful it's not completely dead. 2 Link to comment

I've been hoping for non-partisanship and an end to the two party system, but I fear the US will collapse instead. Link to comment

These districts were already gerrymandered, making it extremely hard to oust Republicans. State senators should not be able to reshape their own districts to make it harder to vote them to get voted out. It's completely assbackwards if you are pro democracy. And we didn't have a Supreme Court to fix this before, but now we are nowhere close to having one. There is no chance of fixing this in the next 60 years unless we can pass something into law, and that will become less likely if Democrats can't figure out how to reach voters in states with lower populations so they can win the Senate, or if Republicans end up deciding they want things to be fair (which will never happen unless the Democrats start to reach voters in states with lower populations). 1 Link to comment

Regarding the bold - they need to broaden their tent. They need to listen to fly over country. The GOP has done a good job of labeling Dems as a party that will take your guns, abort all of the babies, tax you to death, shut the door of churches, and install socialism. If the Dems want to go full bore towards the 'progressive' side the divide will remain. Part of it is education -presenting the facts on where the party stands on various issues important to the small states and part is in taking concrete steps in passing legislation that appeals to that voter. In the same way, the GOP will remain the way they are if their appeal is primarily to just the most conservative and alt right among us. 1 Link to comment
