I think anything can be caricatured and demonized. That's where Dem messaging needs to be much better.

Yes, dems seem to always be on the defensive. Go on offense and ask republicans why they dont wanna give people a living wage. Why they dont want people to have healthcare. Why are they trying to destroy the planet and harm your grandkids. Stuff like that. Its always defensive with dems and then they end up backing down for fear or being called a socialist. Hell, ask the republican what they think socialism even is and then ask them what they think the military is and then call them a socialist for supporting the public military.

Ya, they need to hire people away from the Lincoln Project, imo. Their ads were really good. They need to attack the GOP. It should be easy.

I think the Democratic Party needs to realize that politics are still incredibly local and a Democrat in a +25 blue District like AOC is going to be a very different candidate than a Democrat in a tossup district like NE2 and that its ok that not everyone falls on your end of the spectrum. You are still working toward very similar goals.

Yes this is from a Teen Vogue interview, Stacey Abrams pretty succinctly sums up how the Democratic party can work together with the "idealist" left and the "realist" moderates to reach the country in a more effective way than these thinly veiled attacks that party members have already thrown at each other.

“I think it’s absolutely necessary that AOC is a member of the same party that I am and the same party that every candidate running for the presidential nomination is. Because America is that diverse,” she says. “I live in the Deep South. Here, I’m considered incredibly progressive. In California, I’m a moderate.... But as long as we're on the same end of the spectrum, that's what I want. As long as we’re moving in the same direction. And we need people to pull us farther and faster than we think we can go. We need people to demand more because that’s how change happens. But we have to give people permission to show up when they can. Because if we leave too many people behind, we’re out there by ourselves. And fundamentally for me, this isn't about politics; this is about lives.”

She thinks locally, using language directed to the more moderate Georgia voters she’s spent most of her life courting. Abrams tells the Roosevelt Network students that she defines progressivism as “progress from where we are,” which will “be different in different parts of the country.” It is her responsibility, Abrams says, to help “translate progressive policy into Southern.”

I get that but there are some issues that are popular everywhere. Healthcare is popular no matter where you are. Education. Climate change. Stay away from the defund the police garbage and stick to the main issues. When you dont offer anything that differientiates yourself from the other person, then you probably wont win. Especially if youre playing defense the whole time trying to ward off socialism attacks.

Some congresswoman in VA came out the day after the election and blamed progressives for them losing seats in the house. Im glad Abrams said this but not everyone in the dem party is this accepting of progressives.

Now that there is a spot light on this issue, it will be interesting to see how the Biden Administration handles this going forward.  Anti-Trump people are disgusted by the status quo, and all the people that screamed "Obama built the cages!!" seem to agree that that we need to do better than what we are doing.

My guess is the media stops talking about it and it drops from the national consciousness without anything changing.

I don't think she is the best choice. They need to do better.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/526481-democrats-nominate-pelosi-to-keep-speakership

House Democrats on Wednesday nominated Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to remain atop the party for another two years, brushing aside some internal grousing about a disappointing election performance in a vote demonstrating an overwhelming confidence in their long-time leader.

The nomination was secured by voice vote during a process conducted remotely as a health precaution amid a surge in coronavirus cases.

The Lincoln Project wasted countless millions of dollars getting smoked in swing state Senate Races while also helping to lose +10 House seats.  Yes, hire them all.

They were also plenty good at losing Republican elections in the past too.
