The US has been a mixture of privately owned capitalism and socialism since it’s inception. That’s what Republicans refuse to acknowledge. So, ridding the US of socialism isn’t the correct conversation. The conversation needs to be about what parts should be socialized and how to make them as efficient as possible. At the same time, how do we create the best business environment for capitalism to thrive so the most people possible have good jobs. Another part that Republicans don’t get us that takes a certain amount of regulation.

His spine is evaporating.  If it continues, by election time, him and Trump will be buddies.

I think this is smart and hear me out.

He is going to win the election and when he takes office people will still be dying of this thing...so he has to say this now so that when they die on his watch he can say it again.

Trump, like all presidents, is receiving a bump in popularity at a time of crisis.

A couple of things to consider:

Trump's "bump" is historically small, and like other bumps, is unlikely to last.

Biden has been holed up in his basement, not out in front of TV cameras every day like Trump.

Biden's camera time has been tiny compared to Trump's, yet at the height of Trump's popularity and the low point of Biden's public appearances, they're tied, according to that poll.

That's not good news for Trump.

I agree.  Good post.   So that begs the question.  What parts should be 'socialized?

These have been tossed around in political discussion

Healthcare

Energy (from source to point of use?)

Joe can delay it for a while but eventually Trump is going to pound him like a trope for the his non-response during the Obama-Biden Swine Flu.  I wonder if JB would do better by starting the cycle early.

If Trump makes the mistake of equating the two situations, he's gonna be in for a rude awakening.

H1N1:

Around 13,000 deaths

Economy actually improved during this pandemic (granted we were coming out of the recession)

Jobs grew

There was plenty of toilet paper

COVID-19

Sadly, there will most likely be far more deaths

Economy tanked, required a 2 TRILLION dollar bailout

Unemployment makes the Great Depression look like a holiday weekend

My socks are brown...
