Is this the most improved Husker team in history?

Recommended Posts

Over the course of a season, certainly possible.

The only thing comparable I can think of might be 1981 when Osborne decided some guys name Gill, Rozier, and Fryar were probably worth using.

Maybe Pelini's 2008 team gets a mention.

It's hard to say, last year's squad honestly didn't get a fair shake. That's what happens when you effectively fire your coach after Game 3.

The real question will be if next year's team is the most improved ever. This team loses games like a first year team does by making little mistakes, and typically fixing those translates into a lot more wins in year 2.

IMO this loss hurts more than anyone in the last 5 years.  We had every opportunity to win this god damn game.  We improved, but you still have to win games like this.

Mentally, maybe. Physically we still have the same tools we had against Colorado. But they're way mentally stronger now than they were to start the season.

Hard to say since last year NU had a ton of talent on the team but inept morons for coaches, yet this year there is a lack of talent and brilliant minds coaching.  Never mind a lot of those talented players are still on the team

Pelini was gifted with talent for his first year and didn’t have to go up against, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio state.

The team Bo's first year was comprised of the following 4 classes before his arrival

2004- 26th recruiting class

2005- 8th recruiting class

2006- 21st recruiting class

2007- 19th recruiting class

Avg rank 18.5

Scotts team this year is comprised of the following 4 classes prior to his arrival

2014- 35th recruiting class

2015- 30th recruiting class

2016- 26th recruiting class

2017- 23rd recruiting class

Avg rank 28.5

I dont even want to go into how much worse the classes Riley left were because of the amount of top class talent that isnt on the roster any longer.

Old Dominion

De gustibus non est disputandum.

Clearly they didn’t have message boards in in Ancient Rome:). But to answer the question at hand, I have no idea but I do know I’ve never felt so optimistic about a 2-7 squad

Maybe the Bobster’s first team improved the most over the previous year’s team.

Don’t look at the record!

I was at the MN game last year. This year’s team would beat last year’s team by 40. Easy.

Ya I agree Purdue looks pretty good against Iowa right now.

Why isn't this in the Big Ten form?

what if Scott takes a 4 win team and wins 10 next year?

And then goes undefeated the year after?

Gasp, it'd be unheard of!! No one has ever done that!!

Wait

That's assuming this team wins 2 more games this year.

Bo took a 5 win team and won 9 so no

I assumed the OP is talking about over the course of a season.

The top thee opponents from 2008 are likely going to end up more highly-ranked than those three teams are this year so.....

It's weird how differently people see these things. Not saying you're wrong but I'd probably put at least 10 games above it. I put Colorado and Northwestern above it this season. And there's not really any comparison (imo).

This one hurts more for me just because of what it would’ve meant to those players and the program. I’m not as mad about it as I was about the ones you mentioned. Just more sad, even tho I know we took another step forward
