Moments of the night:

Bernie and Warren tag teaming all night against these loser corporatists polling at 0%.

“I do know, I wrote the damn bill!”

Elizabeth Warren asking Delaney as he looks like hes about to cry why hes wasting his time running for president if all hes gonna do is say we cant to everything. Dont know the exact quote but that was great.

Williamson talking about how canceling student debt would greatly stimulate the economy. Not only is she 100% correct but she follows that up with saying shes been listening to all these people on stage and cant understand how they are even democrats. Boom!

Honorable mention:

Bernie calling out Jake Tapper lol

Something like “I don’t understand why someone goes to the trouble of running for president just to say what we can’t do and shouldn’t fight for.”

I agree. I’m tired of these idiots saying any new idea is a fairytale/crazy/makes us a socialist country, especially when the numbers are there.

So wt Warren/Sanders doing a tag team, what happens when the field gets narrowed??:dunno  One of them will have to step aside.  They will have to eventually turn their shots at each other.  Otherwise they will divide the progressive vote and Biden wins by default --- as what happen in the GOP debate 4 years ago.  Trump directed conversations away from him, derailed policy talk that he didn't have a clue by insulting those who did have a clue, and watched as the others eliminated each other.  I don't see either Sanders or Warren stepping aside when it gets down to  Biden, Harris, Warren, Sanders as I think it is bound to be.

So for you more progressive leaning posters - would you lean towards Sanders or Warren??

If it were me, I would lean towards Warren.  Bernie just seems to be an angry old man.

Warren.

They have similar ideas, but she actually has record of getting things done and has detailed plans to do so.  Bernie is fine, but I'd like to see some youth in that office, energy and an ability to be engaging.  Warren has been getting feedback via polling numbers that once people see her live or on tv with some time they like her more as a candidate.

Sanders has good reason to be angry. I'm glad he's angry.

But I agree... they would be able to beat Biden better if there was only 1 of them. But I just don't see it happening regardless. And I don't know enough about them to pick one. I've said it before here but I can't vote in the Democratic primary as an independent so I haven't dug into the candidates yet.

Angry Bernie is the best Bernie.  He appeals to the people who are fed up.  Hes been saying the same things for 40 years and nothing has changed.  Sanders would be my first pick, but if Warren were to be the nominee, I would vote for her with a smile on my face.  Wouldn't be surprised if we see a Sanders/Warren ticket when all is said and done.

So, will one step aside and they form a pack - a 2 for one?   One ticket wt 2 progressives    - If they split the progress vote in each primary, Biden wins IMHO.

The thing is, they actually don't have the same base.  Sanders base is young, under $50,000.  Strong with Latinos.

Warrens base is older and above $100,000.

I would have thought they were fighting for the same people also, but according to polls, that's just not the case.  It would be stupid for either of them to drop out at this point as they are #2 and #3.  By time Iowa hits, it might be a mixed ticket.  My guess is they have it planned out already as they are really good friends.

Yes, I did mean for one to drop out now.  By all means, they need to go into the primaries and see who is the stronger vote getter.

agreed.  But after Trump anger, we need a bit more inspiration along wt the ideas.

I agree. I'm burnt out on constant anger and division and talk of fighting all of the time, even if fighting is what we need to do.

I'll have zero problems if Bernie or Warren win the nomination. I'd vote for either of them happily and work to help them expunge the current stain from the Oval.

But in my lifetime Dems have done best when they have a candidate who inspires hope and belief in what we can accomplish as a people. Obama inspired those quantities in spades.

I just get a different vibe from both of them. Bernie does strike me as a curmudgeony old man raging against the machine, even though what he rages against is largely correct. Warren is a wonky technocrat eager to tip the scales back towards people and away from corporate America. Either one is necessarily more confrontational than Obama was.
