Trump and Bernie draw from the same anti-establishment well. Someone recently described it well. Most Dems think the Republicans are terrible and they are mostly good. Bernie think the Republicans are terrible and the Dems suck. Thus there is a group of people who think "I'm don't love Bernie but at least he's not a f#cking Democrat." That's a powerful thing. Thats a better way to put it into words. He doesn't do things like a traditional Dem or Republican. I also think people on the right see Hilary, Pete, Bloomberg types as representing the "Elite", pretty much impossible to paint Bernie with that brush - he really connects with blue collar workers. 1 Link to comment

Yep. A lot of people are just fed up with politics and politicians in general. So someone angling to shake everything up becomes very appealing. And, to be sure, Trump wants to run against Bernie. He's obviously set up the elaborate effort to slime Biden and to his credit, people are stupid and it's working. But he also takes every available opportunity to prop up Bernie because he truly believes he can't lose to a perceived socialist. He's probably going to get what he wants. Whether or not he's right to want that fight is another question. 5 Link to comment

teachercd
Sorry, that was just for the D-Nomination. So right now, according to "vegas" Sanders is the clear front runner with Bloomie second but way back. Link to comment
Notre Dame Joe
We were promised a knock down drag'em fight in the DNC and instead we're getting some version of the Nebraska-UF national title game. Has any candidate ever started out 3-0 and not had the nomination effectively wrapped up after Super Tuesday? Link to comment

I heard that no candidate (excluding incumbents) has ever won the popular vote in the first 3 primaries in either the Dem or Repub parties. (Note that while Bernie won the popular vote in Iowa, somehow Buttigieg ended up with more assigned delegates. Also note that all Iowa results are pretty suspect as there are known math errors in lots of the delegate math.) Link to comment
