  1. ^ Boy, spend years complaining about fake news. Complain when you don't get fake news. That's the extreme right for ya. Trying to "challenge" Ronna would require Ronna to acquire some common sense. Given that seems unlikely based on the number if years of already trying to do that, you would have better luck pulling a unicorn riding leprechaun out of her rear.

  5. Yes they are taking the brunt of the SCOTUS ruling. But everyone forgets that it was the correct ruling. Congress never codified abortion into the system and therefor it should have always been a States Rights issue for each state to decide. It was a correct sound decision unlike the previous SCOTUS decision. Congress is free to make an abortion law and a President sign it. At that point, it no longer is a States Rights issue and all states abide by it. Interesting nugget, not withstanding the fear mongering by the poster you replied to, Trump seems to want to support a 15week(ish) abortion ban with exceptions for life of mother, rape, incest. That is a longer time period than many of the EU countries that our posters want us to so desperately follow, yet someone is going around saying abortion will be criminalized in the early next term.

  6. The thing is, if you are an envirobro and you do ANYTHING at all that hurts the environment, than what you say doesn't matter and you are a phony. Period. For instance, I hate guns and firemen. I will NEVER own a gun or a bullet, I will never go to a gun store or gun show, ever ever...And I will never donate to anything fireman related and I would never use their "help" But envirbros, even here on this site, still hurt the environment every single day. So they really don't care they just love the juice that comes with the talk.

I would rather see us lose 8,000-10,000 seats but have it be a better overall experience for those attending" (borrowed HMax member) Ronald Reagan Dannen told Gorbachev Kabourek 'Tear down this wall upper deck!' 87th post ......

  9. The ocean temperature in the North Atlantic has set a record high every day in 2024. And not by small margins. I never said that. What I said was that the planet warming has far surpassed worse case scenarios, predictions made by scientists years ago. No scientific projections predicted ocean temperatures where they are today - hence the meaning of passing even the worst scenarios because that's true. I say that because reactionary politics of people on the right are in large part because of paranoia and fear. Archy1221 and other right wingers deny climate change because denying reality is comforting to them. Because the truth scares them, and they'd have to reconcile support for destructive politics.

  11. How do you know the Earth's climate has changed over billions of years? How do you know that the Earth didn't used to have glaciers? I mean, I knew that, too. I was a geology minor at UNL. Always found it fascinating. The Earth has been through its share of extremes long before humans came along, much less AOC. The reason we know all this about the Earth is because scientists dedicated their lives to studying it. And it's those same scientists who know perfectly well about the Earth's violent past who are tracking the 100%* undeniable fact of global warming, glacial melt, climate change and severe weather increase. These f#&%ers are so smart they took that cold week in Omaha into account. When asked for a reason for this rapid of a change in this particular Earth window, some theorize that the trillions of tons of carbon thrown into the atmosphere since the industrial revolution could easily have that effect. Some point out that volcanoes do the same thing. But the smart ones point out that human industrialization can affect the Earth's climate just like historic eruptions do. One hardly excuses the other. It was the tree huggers at the Pentagon who identified climate change as the worst threat to global stability. Maybe you could take it up with them. In the meantime, under the cloak of socialism, the push to more efficient energy usage turns out to have a strong business innovation, jobs creation, and American intellectual property component. I guess horse manufacturers were threatened by the arrival of the automobile back in the day, but we survived, and somehow managed to live with a lot less horses#!t. * Mathematical probability, not racist.

  17. So since this instance was a focal point of John’s show, one would think he would retroactively pay the city for the lost property taxes John evaded by not matching the true property value better with the assessed value while he owned it. In the interest of fiscal conservatism, which it sounds like you care deeply about, it’s also possible a prosecutor might take a few high profile examples like this and use them as a loss leader (who knows, it’s very possible the prosecutors office comes out ahead in monetary value) while winning some civil verdicts so other wealthy millionaire celebrities not “paying their fair share” may be proactive in the future and get their properties re-assessed thereby bringing in more revenue thereby having a net positive overall. And since we know Governments don’t really care about fiscal conservatism, if nothing else, wealthy millionaire Democrats finally get to pay their fair share of property taxes!

  20. I have never heard of the person before but...I mean, you get to the point where you could, in theory, bring up "any reason" to get people canned. Which of course, we have seen before in history. While I am fine with what they did, it is hard to not see how this can be a slippery slope. What is it next time, they get mad and want someone fired who is for abortion? Again, I am fine with it but later on, if someone gets canned for something YOU agree with, then you have to sort of sit there and eat it.

  21. Yup. pansies. The anchors would have a perfect forum to challenge her if they are so confident. It has to be much more difficult for a lone conservative to join a liberal network. Just ask Megan Kelly how that turned out....although she probably got 10s of millions, out of her short stint.

  23. Yes. But, here's the problem for them. In a well functioning party, the party leadership would, at some point in time, sit back and reevaluate what they are doing and start promoting candidates that appeal to more people. But, what do we have? We have the functioning leader of the party being the most hated politician in America. He has installed his daughter-in-law as the chairman of the party. They are kicking out anyone who questions the dear leader and using the party to fund whatever personally the leader wants. This is not a recipe for the party to get straightened out any time soon.

  25. I mean, I like most of your posts but you are wrong. No one is "denying climate change" we all know the climate will change (it has to) and that the sun will one day die. We are denying living in fear over it. You are living in fear over it. Look at it like this (and before the "That is not a good metaphor" crowd comes in, just know that I don't know what a metaphor or analogy is so it doesn't matter what you say) You drive, right? You are super likely to get into a bad or even fatal accident driving, statistically speaking. We all know this, for the most part the only thing we do about is wear a seatbelt. We still speed, we still cut people off, we don't always signal, we roll through stops, we do all we can to make it through that yellow light, we check out texts. Even though WE KNOW something bad could happen. We are not "Car Accident Deniers" we are normal people that don't live in constant fear.

  34. Ehhhhh, the ADL is way out on its skis with this one. 50 plus 50 is 100 and that’s not racist. Using, I’m committed 100% is not racist. Answering a question about liking something with 100% is not racist. Just because some nitwits are using 100% and combining it with racist terminology, then that is racist and it’s hard not to see that for what it is. The ADL is acting like we shouldn’t use 100% because racists are using it now and it gives them credence. That’s just plain silly. Just like the ok symbol. People claim every white person who does the okay symbol is flashing a racist sign. Gimme a break.

  36. There's denying it exists, which way too many people do in the first place, and then there's different flavors of denying that it is a problem for us. I think you're well aware of what has historically happened to dominant life forms when the earth's climate changed too much. Our existence is based in part off of the stability of the climate. Our flourishing and comfort and safety are based in part off of the stability of the climate even moreso. Our bodies, buildings, grids, cities, and systems of social order are all predicated on the predictability and regularity of the last several thousand years of stable ice age and are fundamentally ill-equipped to withstand the results of severe changes to those parameters. Even if we've had nothing to do with the way the climate has been changing, it's pretty imperative for life as we know it to figure out ways we can engineer against it.

  43. Henry Burt - Third year walk on sophomore. He's a crowd favorite, didn't play much. Not much to say about him. He's essentially an undersized 4/5. I don't see him playing much next year either. Cale Jacobson - Third year walk on sophomore. Played a little bit outside of "junk time". Played a lot in their trip to Spain because the team was shorthanded. Seems to be a pretty good shooter based on warmups. Could see some playing time next year. Could be a Hoiberg type & get some playing time with hustle & defense. Matar Diop - Sophomore. Really athletic, needs to gain strength & weight. His shooting improved throughout the season based on warmups, but still needs to get better. Could develop into a stretch 4/5 with time. He seems willing to learn & put in the work to improve. Clearly gained some strength during the season because early in the season he got pushed around by every post player on opposing teams but was able to hold his own against Dain Dainja from Illinois in the B1G tournament when Mast & Allick were in foul trouble. Jeffrey Grace III - Fourth year walk on junior. Not much to say about him. Usually the last guy off the bench. Shot looks pretty flat based on warmups. Seems like he enjoys being on the team. Sam Hoiberg - Fourth year walk on junior. Probably would have earned a scholarship if his dad wasn't the coach & can afford to pay his tuition. Great hustle & defense. A lot more athletic than he looks. Can make open shots but went through a slump for the last month of the season. If his shot gets more consistent, he will be very dangerous. Will continue to come off the bench to provide energy. Jamarques Lawrence - Junior. Tried to convert to a point guard when Ulis was suspended. I think with an entire offseason to work on his point guard skills, he will be much better next year. Started the season as a starter but was much more successful when he moved to the bench. Good shooter but had some issues early in the season when he was thinking too much about his point guard duties. Once he went to the bench and relaxed, he was much better. I think he has the ability to be a lock down defender if he's willing to give the effort on that end of the floor. Will probably still come off the bench as a combo guard next year. Juwan Gary - Fifth year senior. Great defensively most of the time. Can guard any position 1-5. Shoot was much improved this year, but still needs to be more consistent. Has the quickness to drive to the basket but needs to work on his handle to be more effective. Great rebounder on both the offensive & defensive glass. Will likely be the starting 4 next year even though he's a little undersized at 6' 6". If he improves his shot consistency & handle, he could move the 3. Renck Mast - Fifth year senior. Really good passer for his size. Stretch 4/5. Probably best suited to the 4, but in Hoiberg's positionless system he will probably end up at the 5 unless they bring in a true 5 through the portal. Good shooter for his size. Not quite as slow as he appears, but definitely needs to work on his quickness. Some of his quickness issues could be because of the minor knee surgery he had around Christmas. Hopefully taking some time off will allow it to fully heal. Decent rebounder but could be better - though sometimes boxed out bigger players to let other Huskers actually get the rebound. Should be the starting 4/5 next season. Ahron Ulis - Fifth year senior. Transfer from Iowa. He's the true point guard the team needs. Hopefully he's eligible at the beginning of the season in November after being suspended all season for gambling on at least one Iowa football game while there. Wasn't a great shooter at Iowa, but after a year working with Hoiberg, that should be improved. Good defender. Should be the starting point guard next year. C J Wilcher - Fifth year senior. Graduated in December & went through Senior Night ceremony. Good shooter but streaky. Was wight hot for most of January and early February, but ice cold for most of the rest of the season. Needs to become more consistent. Quicker that he looks. Decent defender. Not a bad ball handler but definitely could be better. With his size & strength it would be nice to see him work on his post-up game so he can take smaller guards inside. Will likely be a starting wing next year or the first guy off the bench. Brice Williams - Fifth year senior. Transfer from Charlotte. Was a pleasant surprise this year. Really good shooter. Played point guard because of Ulis' suspension & Lawrence's struggles. Good enough defender that you never really notice him on that end. Occasionally got into foul trouble. Great rebounder considering the positions he plays. Calming influence on the floor. Should be a starting wing next year with Ulis' suspension ending & Lawrence getting the entire off season to learn/improve at the point.

  44. The worst thing that happened to the Repubs was the reversal of Roe V Wade. It is an issue to run on, but you don't want it to actually happen like this. I told my wife the republicans are now going to lose on this issue. For once, I was right. I am sure there are other issues that parties run on that they don't want to actually change.

No scientific projections predicted ocean temperatures where they are today - hence the meaning of passing even the worst scenarios because that's true. And what has this “worst case scenario” done to us? It’s so bad, no one could have predicted it, yet here we are all nice and tidy. Were we supposed to be heading to super boats with our tickets like in the movie 2012. Now here is where you are wrong again. I don’t deny climate change and never have. What you don’t seem to know is the Earths climate has changed for billions of years. You may also not understand that humans have not been on the planet for billions of years. Funny story but for a long long long long time the Earth didn’t even have glaciers. Then interestingly enough, the glaciers we do have we much much much larger than present day. Not sure how they melted so much when cars aren’t around though Maybe it was the Bear farts.
