That one was right over their "star" players head. I predicted 31-3 Bama. I'd say I'm looking like I might have went a bit low on Bama's score.

  4. Now reported that Chiefs let go of Scott Pioli. Hire Reid, give him authority over personnel, and fire your bust of a gm. Hot damn, my Chiefs starting to make some sense again. Time to top it off with a qb somehow.

  8. It just hit me. A solution. Since our offense does such a great job of stopping themselves, make Tim Beck the DC. Move Papuchis to full-time Recruiting Coordinator, and get Shawn Watson back here to be the OC. Good grief.

And Florida just turned it over for the 2nd time in 1 offensive plays. Is that possible? Or does the missed onside kick and 30 yards in penalties NOT count as a turnover. This is epic hilarity. Gainsville meltdown commencing.

The refs didn't have control of the game. Williams and/or Tmart should've been flagged at some point. Then the hit towards the end on the sideline..... jesus

What's interesting is that some of the fiscal plans have called for cuts in monitoring this and other significant volcanoes. I presume it's via cuts in National Parks service?

    3. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

I'm guessing it's the USGS that is mainly involved in monitoring volcanoes, including the caldera at Yellowstone. But if any eruption were to happen in the near future, it would almost certainly be a smaller one. The entire caldera is not about to unzip in a super eruption.

  17. Co worker says "if Mayans were so smart on predicting things, why arent they still around?" They didnt predict anything. They made a calender. Is the guy that made the calender for 1904 still alive?

    1. Show previous comments  4 more
    2. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

That's not entirely true. There are certain prophetic bits attached to parts of the Mayan calendar, especially the katuns. But yes, they did not make any predictions about the end of this long count, even though previous long counts were believed to end with a catastrophe and the rebirth of humanity.

    3. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

The most important part to remember is that we really don't know that much about the Mayans. Partly thanks to the destruction of most of their works since they were deemed heretical, and partly because a lot of their culture is buried in deep jungle. It does appear, though, that different "kingdoms" within the Mayan culture had variations on their beliefs. So even attributing one thing to the Maya as a whole is difficult and tenuous at best.

  20. Not a fan of Barack Obama. Did not vote for him. But I support him. I have no choice. He seemed to speak from the heart tonight for the first time as The President. I just hope he puts his money where his mouth is this time. This goes for all the dooshbag politicians in Washington. Get to work tommorrow. Get this bogus budget cliff crap taken care of so we as entire nation can get busy on the real problems. If not, I just hope I'm dead before society gets flushed for good.

I ty to look at thing from a proper perspective. There was the thread that showed numerous posts from deadspin on inappropriate remarks tweeted from people abotu the President speaking during the game. I was at the store and someone I saw says "well, cant watch the football game cuz our chickensh#t Prez has babble about sh#t we already know". I was furious. Really man? Really? I just told him his f'ing game was msnbc. I just dont understand.

Every time I hear someone talk about how f'd up modern society is, I think about lions feasting on slaves while roars cascade down from the seats of the Coliseum. It isn't society or culture or ethnicity...it's us. Humans are perpetually horrible. And often, the worst of us are the people who show up with the "solutions."

He discussed how Saban is so competitive, and to see Schiano go to the NFL and immediately have some success after Nick's time with the Dolphins was essentially a fail, it wouldnt be surprising to see Nick give it another shot. Also, Nick has said publicly he would like to work with the Lombardi fella that looks to be taking over the Browns. Just kind of interesting.

If Saban leaves for the Browns: He's out of CFB

If Saban succeeds: I am a Browns fan

If Saban fails: Status Quo in Brownie land and I get to see him fail again

How would you feel if you found out your coach sent the school a letter in September about the job. Then told the staff 2 weeks before you that you'd be heading to a job in the SEC next year. Then you bolt on them before the bowl game. Not to mention you tell your current coaches they probably won't be joining you at you new job so you better start looking. That after you just hired 5 of the 6 of them from other jobs.

    2. Count 'Bility

      Count 'Bility

I would feel bitter. Hell, I do feel bitter, and he wasnt even our coach. But sh#t, it's just another way for the SEC to say "look at us, we took away one of the Big 10's best coaches, FOR FRICKIN ARKANSAS" So now we'll have to hear about this all offseason.
