  1. It's a start. Doesn't mean he didn't do it before... It also probably made sense for him to do it before. If I'm starting something new, I want known commodities. I can take guys where I know the good and bad and work with it. Once I have a foundation set up, then I can start making more risky moves. I wouldn't want to start out with a bunch of unknowns.
  2. Basically having two - or more - groups of offense vs. defense going at basically the same time. It could be having two groups going on different fields or having one group run a play then, while that group is huddling and calling the next play, another group runs a play. Basically trying to get more reps for more players and have more people practicing at the same time when you're doing full offense and defense together. This was a big talking point when Pelini came back and increased the size of the walk-ons. Cally cut the reps considerably by reducing roster numbers. I thought this was done, or at least the intention was to do it from the beginning. Then again, it probably takes a few years to get the numbers back in line to be able to. Especially when not long ago we were looking to walk-ons to anchor a very thin OL. Thanks for the clarification guys. I appreciate it.
  3. Let's not forget that just having numbers is really important for practicing, which is especially important in the off-season. Having guys that can just get plugged in and will play at a high level is of course much better, but still need bodies at every position to run multiple stations at practice and not completely wear out the players. The bolded is definitely true. We actually didn't run multiple stations - at least not very often - until two years ago, iirc. I know, I'm boring you with more stories of how the coaching staff changes things to try to get better but that is huge. Especially on the lines, I've said since then that I thought our offensive line play - which had generally been below average the previous 10 years - would get a lot better due in large part to getting more reps. I think we've seen that over the last couple years. And now, even after losing five seniors, we still appear to be at least eight deep on the line which is really nice. Novice question, but can someone explain to me what is meant by running multiple stations? I think I've got an idea, but it would be awesome if someone could clarify. Thanks.
  4. I've had similar fears until recently - wondering if the win at Michigan State was an extreme outlier. I feel better now that we not only won at Indy but had a lead, let them come back, then finished strong to put away the win. But there is no team ahead of us in the RPI that has a worse road record. Only 3 of the RPI Top 80 have a worse record than us currently so it's a legitimate concern. But it's also obvious that this team has come a long way in the last couple months so hopefully we continue to improve on that record. The only reason I'm a little scared about Friday is because we lost to 31 to Ohio State on the road. Yes it isn't a road game but I think there will be more fans rooting for the Buckeyes than us. Hope I'm wrong though. My impression is that a lot of the country is having a love affair with Nebrasketball. We're pretty popular right now from what I can tell.
  5. Both my alma maters, the place I'm soon to be working (Wisconsin) and the team I'm most loyal to (Nebraska) are in great shape to make the tourny. Weird.

Ah, I miss the days in Temple Bar. I was in Galway the day Henery kicked the 57 yarder against CU. Hated missing that game, but had fun anyway.

Oh, and PM me for sites that you can see the game when gametime gets closer if you don't have a BTN account.

Technically I'm in Psychology, they just train both psychology interns and psychiatry residents at the site. Thanks guys.

  8. Learn tomorrow if I matched for internship (if I have to do another year of grad school or not) Wish me luck.

  9. Northwestern is on the road 2 out of the 3 weeks before us, with Wisconsin sandwiched in the middle. Our bye week couldn't come at a better time there. I say with a bye we have a better than average chance of getting that one on the road. 60-40 us, though I wouldn't be shocked at all if we come out flat and piss this one down our leg Wisky has a cakewalk with Maryland, Rutgers, and Purdue with an bye week the 4 weeks before us. 2 of those games immediately before us are on the road, and I could see them overlooking one of them and maybe suffering a loss...but they'll essentially have almost 4 weeks to prepare for us. Everyone should be healthy. We'll have 3 weeks in an almost easier lead up to the game, but they'll pack that place having been on the road for a few week. Home field advantage that week is worth 7-10 points. I'd say 75-25 Wisconsin win. MSU is another one I'd lean about 70-30 in their favor on. We'll be gassed, after playing a tight game to Fresno - a hard fought game against Miami then Illinois comes in and plays us closer than they should. 3 straight close games, and the team is not into the trip to MSU as they should and we hear about it after the game and all wonder why Bo can't get his team ready to play in these big games, yada, yada, yada. Miami is a toss-up, Iowa is an injury away from a loss. Kinda depends on who comes in healthiest. I'd say 4 losses are there, a 5th could show up - or maybe we survive with just 3 and take a beating in a bowl game. More of the same w/ this "difficult" schedule. Couple notes here. Fresno lost the majority of their offense, and their defense is absolutely awful. Under Al Golden, Miami's average score against teams in the top 30 is 42-10 (they lose). Iowa lost a trio of 5th year senior's at LB, probably their best LB corps in a decade. MSU game relies solely on turnovers. Beck has had no problems gashing their vaunted defense. IMO, the season relies on the QB position. I think the D will be better, and not near the liability it was in the pre-season. So what you're saying is you like the D?
  10. Amen. We've got our coach. Can't wait to see what he can do next season with Hammond coming in. Love what he's doing this season. Far exceeded my expectations for this season. The fact that there's any remote conversation of the dance is insane to me.
  11. Heck of a game by Shields.

A couple of poor shots at the end, but otherwise he was stellar. And he flat-out killed it from the line.

They were poor shots but he was feeling it and can't fault him for attempting when it seemed like he couldn't miss. Their second half performance continues to thrive. Also good to see them close out a win and not eek out a W

  16. If you violated your probation 15 days before it ended, would you still expect to come in contact with the consequences of violating your probation?
  17. Let me get this right. It's not gonna look good for the Uni? He plead no contest, pretty sure you don't do that if you're innocent. So in what world do you get to randomly show people your junk (in a non-consensual way) and get away with no consequences when someone says that's not cool. He then got off with a slap on the wrist (don't come to this til we sort this out) and says oops sorry I thought it was just for a year. He got off easy. He could well be a registered sex offender.
  18. Random interesting factoid: UAB has more WR's in the NFL than Bama. http://espn.go.com/nfl/college

  19. Been at WMU since 2009 it's free here. Went to UWM from 04-09 and they didn't have a team. My academic choices result in poor football.
  20. Yeah, when I picture that, there's some Benny Hill music playing in the background.
  21. As someone currently going to WMU, I'm kinda happy for them. They don't pull in a lot of *** talent.
