Wald can't cover to save his life, so he isn't going to play. We need safeties.

What are you basing that on? Fall practices, spring practices, spring game?

All of the above.

I said it when Wald's tape came out and people only bought into the "oh, he hit so hard" thought process. But those highlights never bothered to show off his ability, or I should say inability, to drop back in coverage consistently. He got on campus and could not cover me if I was running the routes.

But at least he is a little wreckless demon on ST where he will contribute for 3 more years.

Does Terry's future depend on what we get in the defensive backfield this year? Or do you think he's destined for safety either way?

Honestly, I think he'll be like Niles Paul. He will get here and be a solid WR, but will not be moved simply because of that. Alot of our other WRs just aren't that reliable and we need dependability at the position.

I know of quite a few people who believe Niles was wasted at WR instead of playing safety on defense. They thought he had All American potential as a safety, but we couldn't move him for the simple fact we needed WRs more than we did a safety.

I would think the staff had a fair idea what they were getting, as you said his highlight reel was all his ridiculous hits with little in the way of coverage-stuff, and they were willing to burn his shirt just to play ST's. He's Brandon Rigoni with a little more size. We certainly wouldn't offer him now, but when we were hard-up to fill the '08 class it made sense to take a couple of ST-specialists in Wald and Marlowe.

Oh, the staff absolutely knew what they were getting with Wald. However, fans built him up to be the next Mike Brown which he was never even on the same continent as.

Marlowe is a little more than just a ST player. Kid is going to be a good player out of the slot in the coming years. Runs really good routes and one of the quickest/fastest guys on the team. He just needs to put on a bit more weight. Already bulked up quite a bit.

Article in the news about his committment

Sounds like a great guy to have coming here. It will be exciting to see what he does next year on the field and during his career at Nebraska.

Beat me to it. Glad to hear his father and coach won't be putting any pressure on him to re-consider KU.

I have met Coach Donohoe, and he is a really cool guy, so it does not suprise me that is not putting any pressure on Terry.
