HuskerInLostWages
DAYUUUM, that white boy got some moves. Stereotypes abound in normal everyday operations, if they kept him low because of his color, then that is their mistake and/or ignorance. Quote Link to comment
Touchdown Tommie
I can't wait to see what he will do for the Huskers! He has some nice moves and won a number awards....hopefully it carries over to the college ranks and he adds to his trophy case and NU's trophy case as well. Quote Link to comment
rkhufu7
Aggies got Ryan Swope from Austin Westlake. He was 5th in the Texas 5A 100 meters as a junior, yet at 6'1" 210 lbs they were trying to call him an athlete, WR or DB and not a RB. the dude is bigger and faster than Lache Seastrunk and has WAY better hands, yet he can't be a RB? McGuffie is a small back and none of these guys has Swopes' speed!!! Quote Link to comment

father5
wasn't sam mcguffie white? Â He probably still is. Â Â I'm still laughing. Quote Link to comment
DRAINO
Watching his highlights again made me think of 2 things. He reminded me of another white running back Danny Woodhead in the way he ran... Second, with Watson saying he'll get playing time somewhere on the field and him being able to throw the ball, Can we expect a little Wildcat from the Huskers this year?!?!? It gives me the goosebumps thinking what Watsons got in store for him!! Quote Link to comment

It gives me the goosebumps thinking what Watsons got in store for him!! makes me think of an old time husker, Tony Davis, after first contact he keeps his balance and usually needs 2 0r 3 other hits to knock him down. Plus he is a lot faster. also a good set of hands, hope he gets a chance returning kickoffs. I am a believer Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
if Wats is impressed with the kid as a true freshman, that is good enough for me. i don't care if the guy is pink, if he can play, put his a$$ in and let him fly. we need some true freshman impact players! Quote Link to comment
Red Storm Brewing
White Running Back? Â Really? There are tons of white running backs playing college football across the country. I really wish people would leave that BS alone. If a kid can ball they can ball. Â Rex reminds me of a much faster Marlon Lucky. Runs the ball well to the outside and has great straight line speed. However he look very stiff in and out of breaks and through the tackles he runs very high. Â I've watched a lot of his high school tape and on the plays that he went through the middle he never had contact till 5 or 10 yards down the field. Kind of interesting that he is one of the few first team All State 5A running backs to not get an offer from either Oklahoma or Texas. Â Obviously we must have been watching different films or I am hitting the sauce way to hard these days. I'm sorry but those comments are so far off it is silly. Rex Burkhead will play this year for three reasons. 1. The kid is an athletic freak. Played QB one year for his football team and led his HS b-ball team to great success and was dunking as a freshman. 2. Film junky that wants to learn it all will make him the 3rd best option after Roy and Q. Coaches already have been quoted as being overly impressed by Rex off the field as much as on it. 3. Darn it the white RB hasn't had the presence since Tony Davis and damn near Kinney. Rex is bring it back. PS Josh Davis was a joke. Â Finally Oklahoma is so loaded at RB it wasn't a position of need so they didn't go after many. And Hook 'Em slow played him for too long. Quote Link to comment
HuskerJen
I remember people saying this guy was a top player in the nation talent, but quite frankly being a white RB hurt him  Burkhead was the 9th best rated RB in the nation according to rival.com  Rex Burkhead  so how did "being white" hurt him? I'm asking because I don't know. Quote Link to comment
huskers1
Last year around signing day they had Crabtree on 1620 and he was talking about Burkhead and Wegher both white running backs. He said that there is the notion that white backs aren't as good as black ones and if they had all the same attributes, offers, film, they would have been rated higher. He said he hates to say it but it happens. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
I'll reserve judgement until he gets in a game and does something. But I do have high hopes for him. Quote Link to comment

Alamo City Husker
Granted all of the following should be taken with a grain of salt because he hasn't played a down of college football... Â but... Â Is Rex Burkhead the real deal? I remember people saying this guy was a top player in the nation talent, but quite frankly being a white RB hurt him and feeling he couldn't be a RB labeled him a "Guy with no position" Â I just can't believe how much people are talking about him. Not only the media, who pretty much immediately labeled him as a Freshmen who will play in 09 but also Watson assuring people that Burkhead WILL play in 09 in some capacity. Â Even tonight Lane Grindle, who I think is great but can get carried away with seeing Red sometimes, but he was saying how he thinks he would take a guy like Burkhead who will work his ass off and play hard for 4 years over Bryce Brown who was the nations top player. Â I guess I just over looked Rex, what do you guys think? Are you buying the hype do you think Rex is as good as advertised? Â really? white guys cant play running back? I love how talking about white people skill in a sport isn't deemed racist! White guys cant run!!! Quote Link to comment
NoKoolAidForME
He is a very high runner. Marlon Lucky proved that the finesse running back is not made for this system. Helu has moves but best believe he will lay you out if you try to go up top on him. I just don't see that in Rex. Don't get me wrong i think he is an excellent talent, but he will have to work on his pad level to be successful at the collegiate level. Quote Link to comment
