mrandyk
YOur conference seems upside down. NW, Purdue, and Minnesota look better than WIsconsin, Mich state, and Michigan Beta. It would be like Kansas and Baylor in a Big12 title game. Watch for the Northwestern-Purdue title game. It's looking incredibly possible, and I can't even begin to believe it. Quote Link to comment
Omaha-Husker
And Illinois lost to Louisiana Tech 52-24 last night. What a joke. Quote Link to comment

Northwestern is playing pretty good football right now, but I don't know if I would go that far. Purdue on the other hand, they're almost a lock at this point. Quote Link to comment
The Dude
The thought just occured to me that even if we win out and win the Big Ten, some fans will still not be satisfied because "the big Ten sucks this year" I realized this same thing after last Saturday. f#*k 'em and feed 'em beans. BlueInTheFace
Heeeeey, but we should've beaten ND. And that counts for something, guys. #GoLions Quote Link to comment

If were looking for hardware, great! But if were looking for national respect again for winning a championship, well we aren't getting it from winning this conference. On gameday yesterday, they talked about the Big 10 for like 2 min just to basically say it sucks. Yeah yeah, I know, its ESPN and who cares what those goons say, but if we ever want to get into the national title game ever again, there has to be at least some sort of respect by the national media for the conference you are in or they wont vote you in. Right now, the Big 10 is an afterthought. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Two/three years ago they were talking about the Pac-10 being a joke. The Big XII has waffled up and down a LOT in the last decade. Not much more than 15 years ago the SEC wasn't generating much buzz. Today the Big 10 is taking it on the chin. Things change. Don't think so short-term. It sucks when your conference sucks. But don't blow a gasket over it. Quote Link to comment

And regardless of the talking heads on ESPN, if we somehow manage to win out, its still a top ten ranking. The talking heads have a memory about as long as a goldfish. Winning cures all. Moiraine
I'm not too worried about it sucking for the long term with the recruiting classes that Michigan and Ohio State are pulling in. Plus, pollsters always seem to forget what happened the previous year and put the big name schools in the top 15. (See Notre Dame and Michigan every year) Quote Link to comment
Blackshirts007
Northwestern is a good team this year, but for those of you saying they are #1 in the conference are out of your minds, they are squeaking out wins against teams we would beat by 30, they will slowly slide down to about 5th in the conference after they get all hyped up for starting 7-0, they will lose 3 or 4 of there next 5 Quote Link to comment

Give Northwestern props for playing a nice schedule minus S. Dakota yesterday and getting the wins. They beat a middle-of-the-pack SEC team FYI. Quote Link to comment

And the SEC has not looked great thus far either. In fact the SEC has more teams with losing records after the first month than any other AQ conference. The SEC has 4, the rest of the AQ conferences have 6 combined. Outside Bama, the SEC looks pretty mortal. Quote Link to comment

Pretty much everyone else does too. ACC, Pac12 and Big East all have some teams with conference games. The B1G is the lone hold out. For no better reason than why they refuse to play night games in Nov. (Which sounds like we may get to break that next year) Quote Link to comment
