BigRedBuster
Wow knapp... Your candidate won by something like 2.3% and all of a sudden you are the moral compass of America? I have stated on here how disgusted i am with the republican party. So if you plan on writing a dissertation on ask the things they do wrong that's your choice but you probably could save your fingers for something worth while. For the record, i very well may be leaving the republican party. That basically means i am someone without a party since i can't vote for democrats either. Link to comment
The Dude
Americans always elect the most likeable personality. At least during my lifetime. Reagan vs. Carter Reagan vs. Mondale Bush vs. Dukakis Clinton vs. Bush Clinton vs. Dole Bush vs. Gore Bush vs. Kerry Obama vs. McCain Obama vs. Romney I don't see that trend coming to an end any time soon. We're nothing if not superficial. Link to comment

I will post information. But it's interesting that you took "morals" from that. And I wholeheartedly encourage you to go independent. I stopped registering with a major party over a dozen years ago and it's very liberating. Link to comment

We're nothing if not superficial. It seems that the likable factor ties into the trust factor. Its borderline impossible to like someone you do not trust. There is also a trend there of the guy with the more consistent message, and consistent views being the winner. If a guy changes his stance on an issue without there being some new factual revelation, people key in on that and inherently don't trust what the guy is saying. Flip-flopping around on issues for what they think is politically convenient can tend to be political suicide. Link to comment

tschu
I can not believe someone picked a presidential candidate because he cries?...really? The video was made a day after the election. Landlord is saying that, all along, he felt Obama was more human than Romney. The video is just confirmation. And before we start getting into what people do or don't believe about these candidates, you should check out the avalanche of falsehoods spewed from your candidate and the media that supported him - many of those falsehoods you yourself supported and promoted here in this forum. If anyone should be disbelieving the candidate they voted for, it's not those who voted for Obama. I'll be posting some things in a week or so, when the emotions from this election have calmed down, about the general state of this country. It's not a pretty picture, but I think several regulars here will be very shocked - most likely disbelieving, even though I'll provide proof and links - about what they thought, and were told. Bring it on, knapp. We'll see if your "information" trumps others' "information." Link to comment

McCain did far too much pandering to the rightwing during his run. Had he maintained the same stances he had had for years, it might have been different. People do not like a candidate changing positions on issues to appeal to the far edge of either party. Link to comment
ZRod
Personally, I think getting out of election mode has done wonders for Obama. I'm not exagerrating at all when I say this talk and his victory speech are the only 2 times I have been able to tolerate listening to him speak. And, not only tolerate but, I actually enjoyed listening to him. Honestly, these are the first two times it has ever dawned on me that he is like us and not just some power hungry politicians with socialist aspirations. I actually like this Obama. Hope he can keep this up for four years but, even if his demeanor backslides, I will still have a much different and improved insight on the man. It is strange but I no longer have the feeling he is intentionally trying to take us in a wrong direction. For those of you who have interacted with me on these boards, you should understand how huge that is for my outlook. But seriously, welcome to the darkside. If we can just get these guys to work together, this country will be full steam ahead and crazy fox-wingers will have to rethink everything. Not that you're watch fox or anything. Link to comment
