As I said on someone's status, the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy S4 make the iphones look like a flip-phone....

That's one of the most ignorant things I've heard this year, as great as those Samsung phones are.

I was obviously exaggerating for effect, but the Samsung phones are superior devices, and it's not really that close (If you're into gadgets, and such)....

If you're only looking at hardware specifically, and only focusing on features while not paying much attention to build quality, then sure.

Trouble is you're ignoring a lot of elements in that comparison.

I currently have a iPhone 4 and the battery is slowly starting to go on it, had it for 3 years or so. It's been the best phone I've ever had, but the iTunes program is about to make me switch to an Android platform. It simply sucks and the updates to iTunes only gets worse. I purchased iTunes match to make it easier to share amongst my wife's 4s, my iPod and my iPhone and it erased 80% of my songs or so! I had 1,400 + songs and it took my playlist down to 200 or less! Thankfully I had a spare computer with my full playlist on it and used that to get my list back, but I had to shut off iTunes match which means I wasted $24.00 for a feature to erase my playlist............................thanks Apple!

Having said that their phones are simple to use and pretty much anyone can use them, just ask my 4 year olds who get on our phones all the time and take pictures, play games, etc. I'm not a fan of their newest upgrade, but I'll give it some time as I just upgraded it yesterday. I have a iPhone 5 through work and their isn't much difference between my 4 and the 5 so I'm not sure what to do with the 5s as I'm due for an upgrade on my 4. The 5c also doesn't have the fingerprint unlock from what I understand from talking with the Verizon employee yesterday in store.

So the question is everyone do I stick with the iPhone or go Android? My wife and I share calendars and look at that all the time, an Android will complicate that quite a bit from what I understand and that just won't work.

You can switch to Google's Calendar software to bypass this, and it will work on both iOS and Android. When I briefly went to Android, this is what we used. Here's an article that should help you out if you choose to go the Android route.

Ive had a couple of Samsung's latest phones and Ive never had any issues with their durability, or their software. I've heard it said that the iphones are more reliable, but even if that's true, I'd still rather have phone that gives me the best options and the most up to date technology.... As reliable as they might be, the iPhones are just boring....

Oh, so your test of a good, quality product is only that you don't have issues with it? I guess I have a bit higher standards from my phones, flip or not.

Having no issues with a phone is a characteristic I look for, why wouldn't it be? Look, I get it landlord. You're an iphone guy, and for all iphone users it means something to own one. I havent used the most recent iphone, but the previous one was just boring.... I like the bells & whistles that the SAMSUNG offers. The S4 is plenty fast, and built plenty well.... Looking forward to seeing what the new iphone brings to the table. ....

I love how you try to sell that as some sort of disadvantage... just another feature that's offered....

I love how you try to sell that has a negative.... just another feature that's offered....

I'm being sarcastic, because your entire argument about how there is no close comparison between samsungs and iphones is because of gimmicky 'features' that are cool but hardly dealbreakers.

I'm not an iphone guy. I'm barely even an apple guy. The only apple products I've ever owned are my ipod touch and an imac for about 5 months a few years ago. I just think that taking split-hair-size differences between amazing pieces of technologies and exaggerating them into "makes it look like a flip phone" is really ignorant.

At any rate, I'm excited to buy my iphone. I almost went with an s4, because I would actually prefer that phone, but taking in the entire package with the apps available and the install base and the operating system and the camera, it's an obvious choice for me personally.

The flip phone comment (as I already said) was also sarcastic and said for effect.... I will grant you that Appl's app store is much better.... And for the sake of peace, I wouldn't trade my daughter's ipad for anything :)

You pay a giant premium for the Apple logo embossed on their stuff.

This would be more accurate if iPhones were running the same operating system as everyone else.

When my Pro dies I'll be buying a new Macbook. Not because the hardware is superior . . . but because I don't think that I'll ever be able to go back to Windows.

Exactly. Apple's Operating Systems are superior to anything anybody else has put out. iOS 7 that just came out today is absolutely beautiful and, once you get used to it, it's extremely intuitive.

"once you get used to it" doesnt really work with 'extremely intuitive'

And there are more limitations on what you can run on Apple vs Windows, particularly when it comes to any form of gaming.
