Abdullah the Butcher
Are the high and mighty dirty SEC posters going to spin this? Quote Link to comment
kchusker_chris
Im doing a google and seeing 4 years as a stutuate on NCAA rules, etc. Can anyone confirm? If this is true, this is nothing more than a laugher at this point isnt it? I would assume not if the NCAA was alerted to it within those 4 years... Quote Link to comment
jaws
Worth investigating, but also worth noting the difference between institutional corruption to attract and keep players on a college football team, and individual financial predators looking to bilk them out of their future pro earnings. A $500 handshake is a $500 handshake to the NCAA. The clout of the NCAA is about as strong as Olive Oyl. The NCAA is a joke and will be replaced with another body to make rules and decisions in the very near future. Basically reforming the NCAA? Quote Link to comment
JohnInKC
Did not see this posted yet so merge if need be but this can't be good. Happened under the watch of people who are no longer in control but the NCAA will have to look into this and who knows what they will hand down if anything onto us. http://www.si.com/college-football/2014/11/07/nebraska-players-financial-adviser-extra-benefits Quote Link to comment

teachercd
I would take all the free stuff and cash that I could have if I was in their position. I would also wear my jersey to parties and bring a copy of the media guide, just so that girls were 100% positive I was on the team. Anything to get some stanky on my hangdown. Quote Link to comment
Stumpy1
The NCAA has egg on their face after the article Knapp posted the other day about Penn St. They are going to tread lightly on things for awhile I imagine. Quote Link to comment

The exception is if the violation(s) extend back from the current time to past events showing a persistent pattern. This happened so long ago it's only news for historical perspective at this point. Apathy
Freakin morons speaking out about this......way to slap the University in the face after they provided you with a free education Quote Link to comment
hskrfan4life
The NCAA is just such a crapshoot when it comes to disciplinary action, it makes me The only thing this whole thing makes me wonder how much this goes on now in Bo's program vs. when Callahan had the reigns. I mean so far as I know, the only "impermissible benefits" the current players have gotten were books. I can't possibly bring myself to have a problem with that, personally. NCAA doesn't want our players to be too smart! Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
EDIT: Sounds like the kids are met with and sign a document about what they can and cannot receive as gifts. When I tutored I was told they're not allowed to accept anything, even a car ride or a writing utensil. Unless it's from a family member or someone they knew before they joined the program. Bigred_inSD
A friend of mine was high school teammates with a player who went to OSU. The player in question had a on campus job. That job was night security. In which he watched over a vending machine. Im sure these guys weren't the only two to receive illegal stuff at Nebraska. It happens and will happen everywhere Quote Link to comment
