Kernal
Several players (current and former) weighing in. Mostly positive. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/social-media-reaction-nebraska-hires-mike-riley/article_72060332-7bdc-11e4-9bc0-1f4dc3cb72b5.html Quote Link to comment
zoogs
I think we're about to see a level of head coaching competency at Nebraska we haven't in a long time, in spite of Bo Pelini's particular wizardry with defenses. It's awesome and heartwarming that the players are so enthused about this (as are most in the media). How many coaches in the country could have inspired such a reaction? With the atmosphere as it was, we could hardly have gone another direction IMO. 1 Quote Link to comment

This should end well. (Hopefully quickly) 2 Quote Link to comment

Branno
There were a few tweets about an "email thing". I'm guessing Eichorst didn't hold a meeting to let them know about the hiring and instead sent an email like he did with the firing...? Quote Link to comment

I'm guessing Eichorst didn't hold a meeting to let them know about the hiring and instead sent an email like he did with the firing...? Jesus. If I'm Eichorst, I call a player meeting every time I do any mundane thing around the office until, eventually, the players go, "Okay, Shawn. You win. Please just send us a damn e-mail from now on." 10 Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Yeah, let's save the meeting for the meeting with the coach and everyone. All that was needed right now was the announcement. 1 Quote Link to comment
Blackdeuce
I believe the email was to notify the players about a meeting tonight with their new coach. I'm not sure how he could have handled that better. 2 Quote Link to comment

SE spends a couple days knocking on doors to tell the players about the meeting where he would announce that he hired a new coach and that there would be a later meeting where they would be introduced to the new coach? 1 Quote Link to comment

DrunkInBottoms
Players in my class today were a little pissed off that they found out via email around the same time news broke on twitter Quote Link to comment
