jcsmhammel
Who cares if you like the hire or not. He is our coach everybody should be behind him instead of sitting back and bitching about it and coming back a couple years from now saying I told you it was a bad hire. Quote Link to comment

Paul in WI
Bo would have been easier for everyone to get over if he was here next year and tried to get 9 wins without Ameer. I have a feeling that next year would have been pretty rough on Bo. I'm all in on Riley. Let's see what he can do with these kids. He recruited Stanton, so things are going to get interesting. HuskerPowerVA
Well this was a huge let down and my excitement has fallen. I will come around, but just not tonight. Quote Link to comment
Dr. Mantis Toboggan
Give the guy a chance. If it's callahan part 2 then we burn down memorial stadium. But I think the guy will do very well as long as we get the right staff in place. Quote Link to comment
NUinID
I have no idea how Riley will do at NU, but man some of you guys really have no clue about him or Oregon St. University. First of all anyone ever been to Corvallis, Or. Its an agricultural community with an Ag college in it. It is the ugly little sister to Oregon and Eugene. OU is a Beautiful campus in the at the edge of the trees. OSU is in the agricultural plain between the mountains and the coast. Nothing too special about the campus. They have never been a consistent winner and usually they have been downright bad before Riley got there. They have never had a sugar daddy like Phil Knight. They have nothing close to the facilities, or resources that Oregon or Nebraska has. Riley has built a solid program that is very respected as a team that you better bring your A game or you will be losing. In the PAC 12 pecking order only WSU probably has worse facilities and situation than OSU. Riley has done a good job at OSU, I worry about the type of offense he may want to run, but I think he may adapt to his players. Look no guarantees I know he is not the wow hire but he may be a right hire. I say that because I think there could be lots of hires that could do it at NU. 2 Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Draw the line in the sand and pick a side. Hopefully we get some good debate in here. Mods, feel free to clean this up as you see fit. I love the hire. He could have left many times before and didn't. Nebraska was one of the few he would. 1 Quote Link to comment
SilkBleedsHuskers
Yay, always bleed husker red! i think this staff is going to change all the minds of everybody whose crying and being negative on this board (fingers crossed). As much as this is a shock to see, i think this is the best thing that could have happened for husker nation! Quote Link to comment
strigori
I have warmed up to it the more I have read. And anyone doing a straight line win number comparison should probably get a suspension. Take a listen on this. http://cfbmatrix.com/riley-pelini-huskers/ Quote Link to comment
74Hunter
Why do we need to be so divisive? An unfortunate side effect from the previous two coaches. That's going to happen when you make a habit of firing winners and hiring????????? Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
Frank Solich was fired for off-field issues. Bill Callahan was fired for on-field issues. Bo Pelini was fired for a little bit of both. Nebraska only has a pattern of wanting a better football team. 4 Quote Link to comment
Saunders
I hope he does well, but I still think this was an awful move. The more I see, I'm convinced it is an awful move. He has never achieved success anywhere he's ever been. Yeah, Oregon State was awful. So was Kansas State, and Snyder surpassed anything Riley can even dream of doing. His single best record was 10-4. His teams these past few years have been absolutely awful. He's nearing the end of his career. His old team's fans were happy to be rid of him. Count me as a "nay" and the new Polo. Meh Polo was logical with his negativity, you're trashing this hire before Riley has even landed in Lincoln There's way more logic in his post than most of the stuff Polo wrote. Quote Link to comment
Saunders
I voted Nay, but he's our coach, so he has our support. BUT... he can't afford a rough start, or you'll see a good chunk of the fanbase turn on him. Quote Link to comment
74Hunter
I worry about the type of offense he may want to run, but I think he may adapt to his players Major concern. All I've heard is that Beck threw too much and that in Lincoln we need a coach that utilizes the power running game, yet we hire a guy that has a history of throwing the ball all over the place and many seem to be ok with it. I don't get it. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
for those of you who don't like riley, i'd like to see how well you could do at oregon st. (i say, with tongue firmly inserted into my cheek). Guys like Bill Snyder have proven that the small school in the middle of nowhere excuse is just another excuse. 1 Quote Link to comment
