Harvey Perlman: "There were no other offers made."

Recommended Posts

Perlman is a liar.......i don't believe him.......once BB turned us down, they dropped way down the list so we wouldn't be shunned twice...we got a 5-7 coach no one else wanted.

That doesn't even make sense. First, hasn't everyone with personal knowledge of the situation said that NO OFFER was made to that fat hog Bienema? Also, if, hypothetically speaking, Bienema was Eichorst's top target, then why would he go with a coach that was pretty much the antithesis of that fat slobbering underhanded Arkansas Hog? Is there anyone more opposite to Bret (fat f'ing hog) Bienema than Mike Riley? It seems like if Bret had been offered and refused, then we would have ended up with some slightly less successful version of him. Instead, we signed Mike Riley who everyone pretty much agrees is a decent guy who runs a clean program. I don't think our administrators at UNL are liars just because we didn't sign some coach who you seemingly have a weird sort of man-crush fat fetish on. Deal with it.

But how do you feel about it, Nuance? :snacks:

An official offer and a "Would you be interested" are different things.

I guarantee you that SE reached out to Bielma to ask if there was interest.. He found out BB's price tag and realized it wasnt worth it.

When it came to an official offer, i assumed that was only given to the one person who agreed to the principle of a "soft offer"

That is normal.

Mike Riley was Eichorst's #1.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman said Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst had a list of "potential candidates" for the opening, like any athletic director would.

"They do due diligence on a bunch of them as time goes on so they are prepared to act when it's necessary," Perlman said. "In these situations you don't have much time."

Riley, who has coached Oregon State for 12 years, was the only coach offered the job, Perlman said.

"There were no other offers made," he added, disputing national media reports that Arkansas coach Bret Bielema was offered the NU job on Wednesday. Perlman said he kept regents informed during the coaching search via email.

Surprised there isn't some twitter outrage from the regents on this.
