Nebraska is holding open tryouts for walk-ons, so if you're a student looking to make the team, now's your chance. Ryan Gunderson, the Nebraska director of player personnel, tweeted on Wednesday that the tryout date is Feb. 25 and that applications are available at the football reception desk. Always a husker
Isn't this how Matt O'hanlon joined the team back in the day? Quote Link to comment
husker B-rent
Foot... ball... tree... outs. What the hell's a tree-out? Quote Link to comment

ScottyIce
I hope we have someone on the board here that is enrolled and at tries out. Give us a report on how it goes. Quote Link to comment
DaveH
No eligibility left, ETR? Quote Link to comment

This would only lead to the "I should have been put on the team!!! I ran a 4.3 40, benched 225 20 times, and had a 40 inch vertical!!" post. Quote Link to comment

knapplc
If I was going to try out for a spot, it would have been punter. I could punt the ball like a madman back in the day. Quote Link to comment

RunMickeyRun02
Seriously, good to hear about the tryouts though. I'm assuming this is a new thing? I knew we always had "preferred walkons" but I always though there was some sort of try out for others. Is that not the case? Quote Link to comment

Callahan did a similar thing during his tenure, when he received some back lash for "destroying the walk-on program". I don't know if Bo did this during his tenure. He probably did, but probably kept it more low-key. 1 Quote Link to comment
GSG
Grant Muessel @Muessel · 18h 18 hours ago I have eligibility left. You better believe I'm going to attempt to get a tryout and write the hell out of a column on it. Grant Muessel @Muessel · 18h 18 hours ago Start keeping tabs, guys. As a graduated "senior" I'm immediate transfer-eligible. Talked to Spurrier and Mora after that last tweet. Quote Link to comment
