teachercd
He will not play this season... Quote Link to comment
zoogs
So he's going to count towards the schollie limit for two years, but can only play for one. Doesn't sound like the best plan unless we've got plenty of schollies to go around, and I don't think that's the case. Two or three, but like most transfers has to sit out one. Not unlike a redshirting freshman, but with less time available. As things stand, he will be the *only* QB with FBS experience on the 2017 roster. He might effectively be the only upperclassmen QB, too, unless one of the others turns it around. Quote Link to comment
B.B. Hemingway
You can't help but like this move for Nebraska, especially if he gets the 6th year of eligibility.... And talk about extra motivation for POB after his redshirt year. Not saying there was, BUT if there was a thought process out there that POB would be handed the job in 2017, this certainly changes that. Great move for all involved. Quote Link to comment
lo country
Gotta like this attitude. Competition, IMO, is what has been sorely missed at the QB position. It seems like who ever is the starter has been locked in for how ever many years of eligibility remain. Will be nice to see POB and Lee push each other. I am ASSuming that unless things change, Bush and Darlington are not in the mold go Langs and Riley's O. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
This is *very* cool. I'm super excited. You may be looking at our starting 2017 QB here. At least, he'll figure into the competition and has the leg up in experience. I heard they were looking at getting him an extra year, so I don't know if that means he'll have '17 and '18. For sure he's sitting out '16, right? There is a chance that he won't have to sit out and could play next year. I know that the coaching staff was working on it with the NCAA, but don't know if that will be the case. The coaches are trying to get him another year of eligibility in 2018. There is nothing they can do to make him eligible for 2016. Grad students don't have to sit out a year aka Russell Wilson at Wisconsin and Everett Goldston at FSU. It has something to do with the date he graduated and some other confusing NCAA rules that they probably don't understand either.I know the grad transfer rule, this guy hasn't graduated. okaive
Hate this pick up, but I'd like to be proved wrong. After reading his stats, it looks almost the same as TA's (TD's vs Int), but hoping that our staff can teach him a few things that he might be lacking. Welcome to the Big Red Tanner. Same stats against WORSE competition, and he's coming off an injury that we're not sure if he's fully recovered from. Quote Link to comment

One could also assume he had worse talent on his team to work with 2 Quote Link to comment
blackout
If I were POB, I'd be a little perturbed that they brought in another guy though... Quote Link to comment

This kid has some talent, experience, and may blossom into something, so I think it's a good pickup. Wouldn't be surprised to see a QB or two leave after spring ball as well. 1 Quote Link to comment
greenmonkey51
O'Brien is no guarantee. If this guy has potential then why not pick him up. Once a recruit signs he's just another part of the program and has to prove himself. This will sound pessimistic, but I assume every recruit is a bust until they show otherwise and the coaches need to recruit that way. Quote Link to comment
