Redux
If this was going to happen, we would have seen some more smoke by now. Not ruling it out, but as of right now I would say this rumor is flatlining. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
There is no doubt if the B1G chooses to expand that it will look East. Especially at UConn. Hartford is the 30th largest TV market in the country. That's bigger than K.C., I believe. And nobody in Hartford watches UCONN football. Nebraska probably has about the same number of football fans in Hartford as UCONN does. It's not about who watches the games. It's about the number of cable subscribers that will get BTN added to their cable packages. Quote Link to comment

I am not sure what Oklahoma is thinking but the boosters and donors have to be scratching their heads wondering how much longer the league can last with the inmates running the asylum. Redux
It can't survive if the status quo doesn't change. The revenue sharing structure needs restructured, they need to expand to survive. Quote Link to comment

Fans have always wanted SEC, but remember it's also about the academics. The latter is a great way to stand out in the area and keep siphoning kids from North Texas to boot. And this won't blow over anytime soon. OU has zero interest in anything Big XII related until Bevo TV goes away or is re-purposed. Quote Link to comment
The Duke
When it comes to expansion & conference realignment, Tom Shatel of the Omaha World Herald concludes that at the end of the 2016 Big Ten Media days... The Big Ten might not be done yet ...and it potentially has Oklahoma, Texas, along with Kansas and maybe Missouri in it's crosshairs. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/shatel-b-g-tv-deals-take-away-any-excuses-nebraska/article_72308e1f-eaa3-573a-90f0-22ae055b70ae.html "...the only league left to poach would appear to be the Big 12, which also has a grant of rights but only for several more years. However, where there's a lawyer, there's always a way. And if Oklahoma or Texas chose to bolt the Big 12, certainly the destination conference would help pick up the tab." "The feeling at media days is that Delany may not be done yet, though the Boss said Tuesday he may not be here for the end of the six-year TV deal. Never say never with Delany." Quote Link to comment
84HuskerLaw
Nobody would want Texas in their conference except Texas. OU would be a good member but the Big Ten already has plenty of 'big name schools' in football with Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State and arguably Wiscy and Mich State are significants. Bringing in the Sooners would mean yet another traditional national power team is most likely elminated from the national title hunt. As Barry Switzer said "You don't win a national championship, you schedule it!" The Big Ten has Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Nebraska who all 'feel' they are or should rightfully be in the national title discussion annually! Having four already means the chances for any of those super power teams is cut by 75% by scheduling. Adding OU and Texas would be insane as that would effectively take 5 of the top 20 out of consideration before the season even starts. I do not want to see college football become like the NFL where a team with several losses can simply win in the playoffs and become the playoff champion. Quote Link to comment
