Gun Control

Recommended Posts

If ever there was an issue where the GOP is on the wrong side of history it is this. (Yes, I know there are other issues as well with this current GOP).  This strikes to the core of who we are as a people.  Do we truly value life??  GOP are you just pro-life in the womb?  If you say you are pro-life, then it is time to step up and agree to reasonable new gun laws.   It is time to adequately fund mental health programs.  A whole new look of the 2nd amendment must be taken- does the 2nd amendment allows for and was it the intention of the constitution's writers to allow citizens to own weapons of 'mass destruction'?  There weren't AK47s back then, but there were other weapons that could cause multiple deaths quickly.  Unfortunately, the toothpaste is all out of the tube and you can't put it back in without splitting the tube wide open.   There are so many of these types of guns available for deranged people to use - to ban them will not result in 100% security from  their use.  A ban will be as effective as prohibition and will result in episodes similar to Waco, Ruby Ridge, and OKC- as fringe far right military type groups will resist a ban on such weapons.  With that said, I say - ban the d#$m guns.  They have no useful purpose for the average person.

The other thing the GOP could support is a massive increase of revenue for mental health programs to identify and help the mentally ill persons who may initiate such a shooting.  It is true, that if a gun isn't available the mentally ill person may use other means.  However, the availability of guns makes it easier for the ill to or the criminal mind to commit the crime. It is harder to fall into temptation when the sick mind is speaking when the means aren't available.

Note: the Dems support all of the above.  They are pro-life.

Wow. Good for her.

And the FoxNews guy - sounds like Brett Baier, says, yes we are tired of this.  THEN STOP BEING THE GOP'S MOUTHPIECE ON THE ISSUE AND PUT OPPOSING VIEWS ON DURING THE EVENING OPINION SHOWS.  I can already hear Carlson, Hannity, and Ingram tonight defending the 2nd amendment right.   They are probably lining up guests right now to speak of the evils of gun control.

I'd like some reporter to ask him how he feels about this in the wake of the mass shooting in his district.

GOP values.   That is all the Dem candidate for presidents has to ask the voters.  "Do you value what the GOP values as displayed not by their words but by their actions?"

If played right, it could be up there with "Are you better off now than what you were 4 years ago?"  (Reagan)

The hypocrisy has no limits.   Prayer should lead to action. If one has an opportunity to influence change and doesn't take advantage of that opportunity, that person is guilty of sin for that inaction (James 4:17  "Therefore, he who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.")   The GOP has had the opportunity to take action. They have not only not taken action but have actively opposed action - doubling down on their own guilt and responsibility for the present climate. And that is true on so many issues - from environmental issues to all things trump.

What party is against stronger gun laws?

What party is against expanding paid access to for healthcare that would include mental health?

Hmmmmm......I think if you can answer those questions honestly, you will have your answer to what party is standing in the way of helping to prevent this from happening.
