It seems accurate still to say that this is unusual for the ASC (as opposed to the FSC -- not sure about the acronyms; armed serves vs foreign something committee). Also again, in Sessions' defense, even the 1-on-1 could have been perfectly innocuous. However, if it was highly unusual and not disclosed, the raising of the eyebrows is quite fair -- especially in context. Trump ran visibly on a platform of detente with Russia. His surrogates establishing private contacts with Russian interests in a way that might seriously motivate them to spend effort on the Trump campaign's behalf...is a heck of an ethical gray area, to say the least. This is a very weak protestation on Trump's part. Link to comment
