Saunders
2016 Game 7 “Expert” Picks: Purdue at #8 Nebraska (-24) ————— CollegeFootballNews.com http://collegefootballnews.com/2016/nebraska-purdue-game-preview-prediction-line-tv And so begins the Gerard Parker era. While it has more to do with the future of the program and the contract issues, Purdue got rid of head coach Darrell Hazell even though it’s still 3-3 with three more home games along with winnable road dates at Minnesota and Indiana – it’s not like the Boilermakers are a total and complete disaster. But the defense isn’t all that far off. The Purdue run defense is the salve for everyone’s struggling ground game, and the still-flying-under-the-radar-because-it-hasn’t-actually-beaten-anyone-good Nebraska team should be able to take advantage. The Boilermakers have allowed close to 1,100 rushing yards over the last three weeks with 11 touchdowns, getting ripped to shreds by Maryland, Illinois, and Iowa for over 300 yards each, while the Huskers have been functional on the ground when they’ve needed to be. Devine Ozigbo is pushing through an ankle injury, and QB Tommy Armstrong is hobbling a bit, but Terrell Newby and the rest of the Husker options should be able to run at will, and they’ll need to with Purdue QB David Blough going off. The sophomore has had to bomb away to keep up the pace at times, hitting the 400-yard mark twice throwing for 458 yards and five scores in comeback mode against Iowa last week. He’ll have another good game, but his defense will let him down. Yeah, Purdue will have the new coach energy in a game with no pressure whatsoever, but Nebraska is too sound, too solid, and too used to playing in tight games. It’s a banged up Husker team, but it’ll be okay by the fourth quarter. Nebfanatic
Gonna be a tough game for Blough. He is a good player, but this husker secondary is really putting it together and I don't see a step back now especially considering how poor the Purdue run game is. Quote Link to comment
teachercd
The spread is just killing me. -24? I really could go either way on it Quote Link to comment
ADS
With such a banged up OL and still missing some offensive weapons i just want to win and move on. 1 Quote Link to comment
HuskerExpat
Too many OL injuries to cover. We still beat them with our backups, but it will be a conservative game plan not designed to cover 24 points. Quote Link to comment
admo
Covers. Like NW and Illinois, (Fresno and WYO) I don't think the defense will allow more than 17 (max). Not at home, not in our house. The Huskers have had a sour taste in their mouth from last season's game for an entire year. As well as the fans. The Blackshirts will be amped up all game and will get stop after stop. And on offense, I think this is a great opportunity to put up 40 or more. And as the game goes on, all that wear red will enjoy every minute of redemption. 2 Quote Link to comment

And, frankly, our relatively "close" win over Purdue with multiple missing pieces on offense will be used by the pundits as another reason why we're not deserving of a top 10 ranking.... 1 Quote Link to comment

Well...shoot. Purdue is so bad they just fired their coach and I think their two best defense players are out. Quote Link to comment
Redux
I'm expecting like 40-17 final. Quote Link to comment
MichiganDad3
This is only the second time MR has started 6-0 (2012). He should be able to break his record this week (if we can find 22 healthy players). How long will the undefeated streak last? Quote Link to comment
RunMickeyRun02
I would love nothing more than to come out and dominate from kickoff and build up a big enough lead to rest players but nothing I've seen so far has indicated we have the ability to do that. So I went with "Don't cover the spread" option. Although I could see the game following the norm and things being close until the 4th quarter and then pulling away like the Wyoming game. VectorVictor
picked Nebraska. Why did you have to sully a Nebraska game pick thread with a GIF of a vermin booster? And I do hope we come out and close the door on this team by the end of the first half. Would love to be able to sit TA and the starters for an entire half before we have to go do battle w/Wisky.
