zoogs
Once every three years, I imagine they'll schedule visits around that one game to work around the impact. Maybe the sellout streak ends? Who knows. I'm down with it. Get my Husker fix earlier in the week! Free up the weekends. 1 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Since I watch almost every game on TV, I would rather have the occasional Friday night game instead a 11:00 AM Saturday kick off. 2 Quote Link to comment
hskrpwr13
I always thought Friday night should belong to high school football. Saturday should belong to college football. and Sunday to the professionals! I'm camping with these guys. Don't care about some of the potential minor benefits of playing on Friday. teachercd
I think it sounds like fun. I know if I was a student on campus I would think it would be awesome. But even if you don't like it...once every three years is not really a big deal. Quote Link to comment
Redux
We play a Friday game every year already... 1 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
The more I think about it, it's not a terrible idea if the "big schools" have these Friday night games once every 3 years. If I were in Omaha or Lincoln, I think it would be fun to take Friday afternoon off, hit Lincoln for lunch and some afternoon partying, watching the game, and then still having a weekend free to do whatever. Yes, it's not traditional, and it does go up against high school football, but I think these Friday night games will still be heavily attended (sold out) and some fans may want to go to the Friday night game if they can't regularly go on Saturday. This will happen once every few years. It's not going to kill recruiting. People will have plenty of notice to figure out how to work the game into their personal schedule. Quote Link to comment

Michiganball
This is great for Purdue. I just hope Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan tells the Big10 they won't play on Friday nights home or away. Yea maybe "Delany did tell Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune that Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan might avoid hosting Friday night games because of their large stadium capacities." Regarding Huskers traditional Friday game "There are no current plans to expand the Big Ten’s Black Friday television slate beyond Iowa-Nebraska, Rudner said." hskrpwr13
I know this makes me sound like "old guy", but we know how the "once every X amount of time" ends up. 1 Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
Why not Thurs? Makes way more sense Quote Link to comment
GM_Tood
I'll take it over an 11AM Saturday game....once every 3 years. 1 Quote Link to comment
NKYHusker
Why not Thurs? Makes way more sense ESPN's Thursday night ratings are HORRIBLE. Will be interesting to see if their ratings on a Friday night, with no competing NFL game, will be better. Quote Link to comment

For gods sake the Titans played the Jags last Thursday. Get better games and the ratings will go up. Quote Link to comment
Redux
I kinda liked playing Mizzou or Kansas State on a Thursday. Be great if we had a really big game the following Saturday, couple extra days off before hand. Quote Link to comment

Top tier programs don't want Thursday games for all of the reason listed above in this thread, and that Titans / Jags game actually did a great number as compared to the highest rated College game of the year on any network in any time slot (Louisville at Clemson). Thursday night ratings have steadily declined for years, the quality of the games haven't changed much. The highest rated Thursday game this year was Houston at UC when Houston was still in the Top 10 -- and it did a paltry 1.33 (about 2.1 million homes) (ironically, that highest Thursday night rating of the year was, I believe, on NFL's opening game). The lowest rated Thursday night game was the brush-fire of Temple at Memphis, which pulled in a .4. Brutal. I don't think Alabama is going to okay a Thursday night tilt any time soon. For conversation purposes, Nebraska at Wisconsin did a 2.15 this past Saturday (the 4th highest viewed game on Saturday). The highest rated was the 3.2 that Clemson at FSU brought in on ABC.
