bugeater17
Has anyone seen Nebraska's response to this or agreement with caveats as other schools (like Ohio State's caveats for example)? I'd be against hosting a game on Friday but not necessarily opposed to playing an away game at Rutgers, Purdue or Maryland on a Friday. Or does our game against Iowa count ? (I kid I kid... I know the games are scheduled for Sept and Oct an to be on BTN) Quote Link to comment
Red Five
1st off. Something like this would be scheduled so far in advance that i coukd see the NSAA moving that weeks games to thursdayor even a saturday. 2nd. Rosenthals overreaction and mocking of folks overreacting on twitter in kinda annoying.I've gone around with him all day about it. I generally like what he posts, but you're right, he's getting annoying.hes normally a joy. This is the only topicwheres hesbeen a pain about. Maybe its cuz i cant find any positive out of this. And dont see him doing so either. Hes just mocking everyones negatives. Well, he works for the NU AD now and not the LJS... Quote Link to comment
Red Five
And I wouldn't be surprised if that Black Friday Iowa game gets moved at some point in the future. Iowa hates playing that game on a Friday. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Today, we were apprised by the Commissioner of the Big Ten that the new conference television agreement calls for six of the 105 football games to be played on Friday nights beginning in 2017. There has been a somewhat steady intrusion by NCAA conferences and teams to infringe on Friday nights, heretofore traditional high school football nights. It is my understanding that Nebraska will be assigned only one home Friday football game in a three-year period. We believe that the Friday Husker football games will have a serious impact on such Friday night high school games, both in terms of attendance and support. Our strong wish would be that such infringements not occur; however, we know and understand that this decision was made in the best interest of the Big Ten Conference and University of Nebraska. It will be our intentions to work with the University of Nebraska and with NSAA member high schools to minimize such conflicts. We have and will continue to have a great working relationship with the University as they assist us with hosting a number of state championship events. It may be prudent and necessary for Nebraska high schools to consider Thursday or Saturday games when the Huskers are assigned to play on Friday nights. We must do all within our collective power to continue to make high school football both attractive and relevant. Dr. Jim Tenopir, Executive Director Nebraska School Activities Association NSAA Quote Link to comment
Frostberg
How can some schools flat out refuse while its mandatory for others? Kinda feels like the Big 12. Will there be a penalty for the schools that don't on Friday?? 1 Quote Link to comment

swmohusker
Not that B1G of a deal. I think the idea will be great for the smaller B1G teams to get a prime time game and not get burried on the 11 AM slot with Eduardo Cunningham announcing your game. If Nebraska has a game every 3 years on Friday night that will suck but it wouldnt be the end of the world. Quote Link to comment
dergibog
Maybe DoNU will deduct 1/7 of my donation for a Friday night game I can't attend, and cover the cost of the donation with the B1G TV bucks this stupid move generates. 1 Quote Link to comment
Michiganball
Yea, though UM is not the only that can claim that. They also said the logistics of moving 110k people on a Friday would be to much as well. That one I could see, coupled with Friday work traffic it could be a nightmare. Then again this could happen other places to a lesser degree. Quote Link to comment

alwayshusking
I like it. I don't get to see enough Big Ten games bc they schedule like 4 of them in the 11 am window. I'd like to see them spread out some so I can watch more. 1 home game in 3 years with 10 months notice doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Could even be fun. Quote Link to comment

Glad you caught that Matty, he was magic and I was privileged to have had an opportunity to watch him every week growing up, Never seen anyone like him before or since, I really hope that one day I will. In fact I'm so thankful for this guy I would cheer if Oki light got invited to the B1G along with Oklahoma. Quote Link to comment

Will there be a penalty for the schools that don't on Friday?? Yeah, that is the only thing that bothers me about this. Has NU issued an official statement about this? What about the game we already play every year on Friday? Quote Link to comment
