TGHusker
It appears Trump isn't the only one complaining of fake news put out by the media. Here the DEMOCRATIC Gov of Mo decries the false reporting of several media outlets - who end up having to 'correct' their stories after confronted by the Gov. I think sometimes a herd mentality can exist - different media outlets repeating the stories and using similar phrases or talking points. Not enough verification of the facts or serious investigation. Too much laziness at best or intended bias/political posturing at worse. https://www.catholicvote.org/external_content/missouri-governor-calls-out-the-media-for-total-lies-on-a-pro-life-bill/ Link to comment
Enhance
The article says he's a pro-life Republican, not a Democrat. Or did I miss something? Link to comment

It sometimes depends on the origin of the information. For example, most media outlets subscribe to the Associated Press wires. The wires feed information to news outlets nationwide either through content/production management systems (ENPS, iNews, etc.) or through their website. If the AP were to get something wrong, there's a chance hundreds if not thousands of other media outlets might share the same information. Local outlets receiving that information are unlikely to fact check it. This was likely a different situation and it certainly sounds like it was a mistake, but I would call this inaccurate news over 'Fake News.' I hate that term and feel it's used too loosely. Fake, to me, implies a complete falsehood. The bill is real but some of the facts reported were wrong. That's just my perspective, though. Link to comment
zoogs
I know nothing about this topic or the proposed bill. Is a conservative Catholic political advocacy website featuring a tweet by a pro-life Republican governor railing against "the liberal media...spreading lies...fake news" the place I should look? 1 Link to comment
zoogs
Stlouis-mo.gov: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/internal-apps/legislative/upload/Ordinances/BOAPdf/BB203CS-wd15.pdf Here's the ordinance Greitens 'pledged to overturn' (or was that a fabrication?). Here's his quotes: http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/targeting-abortion-laws-greitens-calls-another-special-session/article_88577006-65c4-547d-b601-15bb096b7de5.html Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens wants lawmakers to make good on his promise that “crazy liberals” won’t be allowed to create “abortion sanctuary cities” so long as he’s in office. In an announcement Wednesday, the first-year Republican governor ordered the House and Senate to return to the Capitol for the second special session this year to take action on an ordinance approved by St. Louis aldermen in Februarybanning employers and landlords from discriminating against women who have had an abortion, use contraceptives or are pregnant. Newsweek may have had to correct a specific report on what was happening. But if you ask me, Greitens' intentions are crystal clear and we should reject or heavily scrutinize the narrative he's attempting. He's taking the fight to different turf ("CRAZY LIBERAL MEDIA") because it's better for him if we don't shine a light on what he's after (going after abortion every way viable). Kinda worried Trump is just the beginning of a bunch of bad. I guess they can afford to because they know it's the only place most of their base gets any of their news. As to your broader point, the sentiment that Trump is merely a symptom and not the illness comes to mind. I hope you're wrong but I fear you're right. Link to comment

BigRedBuster
So...last night, when all the news was breaking about Trump Jr, I decided to switch over to Fox to see what was going on in the real world. They had a show on I had never heard of with a panel of 4-5 people. The topic of discussion was how Jim Acosta (from CNN of course) is show boating and how he isn't performing real journalism and how he is being shunned by the rest of the White House press Corp. Gee....I wonder where the WH gets their talking points. Link to comment

Gee....I wonder where the WH gets their talking points. Somebody tweeted yesterday that one of the ways Fox News actually does cover real news is by attacking the outlets/reporters that do report it. That seems fairly accurate here. 1 Link to comment
zoogs
Wow, that's funny. Where else have we seen a Jim Acosta attack before? It's incredible how good they are at getting their message lined up. Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I find it very interesting that two news outlets have taken the wrath of the Trumps for a long time. It never made sense to me why just those two. Who are they? CNN NYT Who are the two who have been prying the hardest for this information? Link to comment
NM11046
Acosta is one that he really hates. (CNN) and he's taken it up a level since he's been "blackballed" in the press rooms - yelling questions, going pretty aggressive at Spicer. They're comparing him to Sam Donaldson vs. Nixon. Link to comment
