schriznoeder
More shenanigans... CNN's Jim Acosta says White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told him if he asked a question of President Trump at a bill signing, she couldn't promise he would be "allowed into a pool spray again." Moiraine
I don't know enough about Stalin to comment, but I do know that people don't take seriously enough what Trump is doing when he bashes the press. Link to comment
Danny Bateman
Just the proliferation of the term "Fake News" & the way it is used is enough to make me uncomfortable. Because they way it's being used inevitably leads to this... At which point, its usage becomes incorrect; it's not legitimate "Fake news," it's "facts that I don't like." Tons of people in society already have a problem with accepting objective reality if it doesn't mesh with what they want to believe. But don't take it from me, listen to this chucklehead... How someone as intelligent as Gingrich can try to argue this tells who he is talking to. There is a subset of the country right now that believes "My feelings are equally valid as your facts." If they are presented with an objective reality they are not comfortable with, they can choose to simply reject it out of hand in favor of something that is more palatable of them, even if it's not based in factual reality. This is not a road we want to go down as a people. Edited January 18, 2018 by dudeguyy 1 Link to comment
Moiraine
In the beginning, the term was used in reference to actual fake news generated for Facebook by people in Russia. Then Trump ran with it. And it became what you're posting about. 1 Link to comment
Danny Bateman
I'm good with the original definition. We need something to call out garbage that's designed to deliberately mislead people. The blurring of lines between that & Trump's definition of the term is what is really bothersome. Words should mean something. Link to comment
