spurs1990
We have just hired one of the premier Defensive Coordinators in college football. They guy won the Broyles Award for sh#ts sake. Now we have guys already negative on the hire. How in the hell is that even possible? There is no place like Nebraska. Quote Link to comment
lo country
Whisky goes from 211 lbs at OLB to a whopping 259....Watt and Biegel 244 and 245. But they hit and could fly....DE's were 268/267 and NG was 288.... They seemed pretty good..... A lot is placed on the prototypical size for positions, but if you can play you can play. Lavonte David agrees with your comment. As does Demorrio Williams....obviously a lot of guys have had great success that don't have the measurables, but have great success. I also agree with your comment. 1 Quote Link to comment

Bama-NG 319 lbs DE 291/307 OLB 252/253 lbs Another year in the weight room and our guys can be closer in weight. Maybe moving our DE's to OLB is an option as well. Again, a 3-4 has many different schemes..... The Davis Twins are listed at 295 & 290. Stolenberg is 290. By this fall, there should be a couple over 300. Quote Link to comment
NoKoolAidForME
Did you not here him say his first year at UCONN they were a top 15 defense? I think his system is adaptable and effective just based on that. He will construct the system around the players we have. Heard that when Rielly came too, yet we chunked the ball more with TA (not his strength) than I can remember ever seeing. 2 Quote Link to comment

theknife
Diaco explained in the presser his system is a hybrid of the 3-4 and 4-2-5. He reaffirmed it's highly flexible and talked at length about making the defense based on players here and input from others on the staff. Riley said the reason he let Banker go was fundamental mistakes he saw repeating themselves from last year in the bowl game highlight. So he made a decision to go get the best D.C. available. I think all the above is positive. 1 Quote Link to comment
ADS
Looks like some Nebraska fans won't be happy until we have Sabah as the head coach, Urban Meyer at OC and Charlie McBride back at DC. Sad! 1 Quote Link to comment

Between both of those teams, only one player weighed at least 250 lbs (and that player weighed exactly 250 lbs). 1 Quote Link to comment
RedDenver
Here's more from Diaco about the personnel: "We can piece and put guys where their physical traits fit best," Diaco said. "So the image that you have of the 3-4 and the front two-gapping is not the system that I've created. There's a lot of flexibility. The Nebraska defensive personnel is going to be just fine to become and be a great defense." Quote Link to comment
