Which previous season do you think 2017 will compare to, if any? I'd guess somewhere around 3,000 yards, maybe 20 TD and like 8-9 INT. Somewhere between 2005 and 2006 Zac Taylor. 84HuskerLaw Posted May 18, 2017 Share Posted May 18, 2017 Noteworthy is that of all those seasons, stat wise, Eric Crouch, 2001 is actually pretty mediocre (a Heisman winner without even 'great' QB stats by Nebraska standards!). He had better numbers as a junior and I think the team was better as well. J. Lord had better numbers in many ways but is never mentioned among our 'better' QBs. I think there is every reason to think that Tanner Lee and or POB (whoever ends up leading the team or perhaps the two combined) will have one of the best, if not the best, seasons of all of the ones indicated. At least in statistical terms. Now, the team (wins and losses) results may be much better or worse than any of the teams compared. The team will NOT succeed or fail based only on the QB stats. The team will win or lose as a team, UNLESS our QB play is horrible and not likely. Absent scandal or other out of the blue kind of season ruination, we will need excellent QB play and all the other players to step up and play much better than they have in years past. This is very possible. The team and each of its many parts will need to get the butts in gear and work harder and play smarter than any of the past dozen teams. Can they do it? I think so. Now we obviously aren't going to see *that* type of production this year so Taylor or Ganz would be just fine. NOt arguing with you just wondering: Does "actually more productive overall" include the multiple lost fumbles Martinez had in 2012 or does it just count his 80 yards and 3 tds that he produced more then Ganz? Didn't he lead the nation in fumbles that year? I'm pretty sure you're right, and this is another example of how stats don't tell the whole story.
