The Russian strategy has always been to outlast opponents at the extreme sacrifice of its own people. But they've rarely faced an opponent that shares so much their DNA. It's not hard to imagine a long tired slog by two opponents willing to rest on the ropes between rounds. 1 1 Link to comment

This could be another Afghanistan. The Mujahidin outlasted a nation known for its long, slogging, grinding wars. As you say, the Ukrainians share a lot of the same DNA. So there's a chance. Ukraine can easily be flattened if needed. Link to comment

The A-50s being taken out is a huge deal, not just for the Ukrainian front, but for Russia's overall defense on all borders. There's also the half dozen jets shot down a few weeks ago. As well as Ukraine continuing to take out Russian anti air. Nobody's saying much but it really feels like Ukraine is gearing up for a big push by paving the road right now... Logistically it would be risky. We'll see... Not to mention a ship or two on the Black Sea 1 1 Link to comment

It is pretty clear that there will not be "peace" in that area, at least not sustained peace. putin just needs to die. That might change a few things, he is an old school commie and those guys are stuck in their crazy ways. 1 Link to comment
