I've ALWAYS preferred the nickname Cornhuskers vs. Huskers.  Glad someone in Nebraska feels the same way.   :-)  Hope NU gets back to that as far as branding and marketing...It's hard to find anything to buy (shirts, hats, etc.) with the full name Cornhuskers on it.

Be who you are, be proud of the corn.

He made it look like a Frost quote. But it's not.  It's a quote from an LJS reader.

There is nothing wrong with using both names just as we do now.   Huskers is great for cheers, etc. but Cornhuskers is our legacy and heritage and the team represents the state of Nebraska and derived its name from the crop which is the very lifeblood of the state's economy, etc.  Without our irrigated corn, Nebraska would essentially be South South Dakota economically.  There is nothing to be ashamed of and certainly much for all Nebraskans and Nebraska fans to be proud of.   It is completely apolitical and represents the hard working productive people who annually harvest the most useful and valuable renewable commodity on the planet!
