That's why it worked for the Clemson QB And I admit I was a bit confused by it at first as well. Had to do more reading Yep, and it works for that Oklahoma State WR who was the first to make the decision to transfer within the 4-game window. Quote Link to comment

Doesn't really sound like his dig... 1 Quote Link to comment
Old Nebraska Guy
my 2 cents worth. the four game red shirt rule wasn't written to facilitate transferring. It was written with the hope of keeping younger players "engaged". It also would help older players who are injured early in the season, ie/ Honas (sp?) and could be used by players coming back from a season ending injury last year. We had a lineman that came back and played in the last 3 or 4 games so he could be on the field at the same time as his brother. That cost him a year. If he had a redshirt left it wouldn't have. the midseason transferring is an "unintended consequence" of the new redshirt rule. But it didn't change any of the "old" rules. Players have a five year clock. Unless a graduate, you sit for a season at your new school. you can't sit at school A, transfer, and then play next year for school B. That's why TG split in such a hurry. He need to get enrolled at his new school for the first semester. He is sitting this season and can play next year. Once he become eligible his five year clock will limit him to three years of playing for his new school even through he never played a down for Nebraska. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
So....to take this conversation all the way around. Lindsey did nothing for himself or the team....other than quitting on the team. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yep, long story short, the only thing Lindsey did was rid himself the obligation of going to practice and school. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

Then leaving was dumb. He should have stuck around knowing that he could get more PT by playing better or through injury. Five star rating with a one star brain. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
The number of personal insults against the player in this discussion is astounding 4 Quote Link to comment

I'm a pictures kind of guy. year one = plays year two = plays year three = plays year four = plays 4 games and graduates ends up being his redshirt year five = grad transfer and new school plays year six = He's already played 4 years so he is not eligible anymore. Plus, the 5 years to play 4 rule comes into affect. i don't think his glide path to the NFL is quite set yet? Quote Link to comment

krc1995
It could be a safeguard for kids when coaching changes occur. Let’s them try out staff without necessesarily burning a year. Quote Link to comment
