2018 NCAA Tournament Contest

Recommended Posts

The Game - Pick nine teams in the tournament

The Goal - Accumulate the most actual points scored by your teams during the entire tournament

The Catch - Your nine teams have to meet the following criteria: One #1 seed, two teams seeded #2, #3 or #4, two teams seeded #5, #6, #7 or #8, two teams seeded #9, #10, #11 or #12 and two teams seeded #13, #14, #15 or #16

The contest is for the entire tournament. Thus, if you are selecting any teams playing in the Opening Round, your entry - posted to this thread - is due by the time their game starts. Otherwise, all entries are due by the tip of the first game on Thursday morning. If you put in an entry then make any changes, you need to check the "Edit" box when modifying your post.

Apparently I picked Radford after they had played? I swear I had no idea any of the games had gone off yet when I picked.  In fact all I knew was I wanted them or LIU Brooklyn and I asked my daughter which one and she said Radford. We're still driving to Lincoln and I discovered this as I was checking the score on the Nebraska game. So....punish me if you must.

@RedTexan with the lead at the conclusion of Round One.

But @GSG seems to be in the best spot.  He's 126 points behind but has three more teams - still 8 teams left is very good.  @Redux also not that far behind with 8 teams left.

i think next year my strategy will be to wait for takota to make his picks...then pick opposite of those teams.

@Redux surges into the lead heading into the Sweet 16.  He's also the only entry with six teams left so that's a good spot to be in.

@GSG only one point back but is short one team so he'll have to try to make that up.

I honestly dont think it is possible for me to be this consistently bad at contests like this, but I am. Just horrible.

I need to start just picking randomly, because my current strategy of using my brain is not working out.

Well, this is a bit anticlimactic but.....

Congrats to @Redux for winning this year's contest.

Crazy.  Both Redux and @GSG have the same four teams left - Villanova, Duke, Florida State and Loyola.  The next three teams behind them only have some combination of those four teams.  Everyone else is too far behind to catch up.

That kind of sucks ... for the contest, not for Redux.  It's usually fun to watch it come down to the last couple games.  Oh well.  Next year I guess.

Nicely done, Redux!

(I'm just relieved I didn't get dead last.  Worst bracket I've ever filled out, this year.  Ugh.)

What's really crazy is that @ScottyIce has three of the Final Four teams and has no chance to win.

I've done this contest for five years both on here and separately off-line with some friends.  The highest winning total out of all those has been 2010.

@Redux has 2040 with at least two and possibly four games to go.

 I hate you. I think I win.

Oddly enough, I entered 7 brackets for money this year... I have a great chance to win 4/7, mostly because I knew who 3/4 of the Final 4 teams were going to be.
