  1. Wow! Lots of storms in the Omaha Metro! Tornado near Louisville. Sounds like Cass County got hammered too with hail. Did Lincoln get much?  I hope everyone is safe!

It would be great if Watson can get his game/production back. Developing Jordy to get 15-20 solid minutes would go a long way. I’m most excited to see Roby next season and looking forward to what Nana can contribute.

Sure glad to have those guys back another year.   This is huge for Nebrasketball!

  3. I know most folks think that beauty pageants are a waste of time but we’re so proud of Miss Nebraska-Sarah Summers who won the Miss USA pageant. This was the first time a candidate from Nebraska has won.

This young woman is a graduate of my city’s high school and attended the elementary I taught in.   She was always the type of kid who helped others and is s great representation of our state.

There are also body building contests which I would say are somewhat similar, although they (the ones on steroids) look gross, not handsome.

  7. Does anyone know where you can find morrell mushrooms around the Omaha area?  When I was a kid we would go mushroom hunting all the time in the Spring. They are delicious when deep fried and served with homemade onion rings made from Vidallia onions.

  8. There is a lively discussion in the Football Forum on whether or not the Tunnel Walk song should be changed. I was curious as to how it all started and found this:  http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=1087317

  9. If Michigan pulls off the win tonight the Huskers have the satisfaction of knowing that we beat them this year. (Beat the NIT champs-Penn St. As well.)

I wouldn't count on it. Based on what I've seen of Nova, thinking about putting half my retirement on them. They look pretty unbeatable.

    3. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

Michigan may do a little better than Kansas vs Nova because they have some height other than the center. I'm not sure they have enough speed.  Mich can't take 5 or 6 minutes off in stretches and expect to win.  They will need to be on from the opening tip.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

I agree with both of you. Nova is  solid team.

This reminded me of the time when Kansas was #1 and lots of people (including me!) picked them to win it all and they got beat in like the second game!!  Well, at least this Dance is entertaining!  (I love those Charles Barkley/Spike Lee/Samuel L. Jackson commercials!)

  14. TEXASS CHOKED!!! Proof that neither Texas nor Oklahoma should've been in the Big Dance!!  (I picked Nevada!  Whoo Hoo!)

Theoretically you are correct Moiraine but this is Texa$$ we are talkin’ bout. There’s a few teams that don’t deserve defending and they’re top of the list. So screw ‘em.

    3. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Yes, Moiraine, you are correct but Texass just gets on my last nerve.  When they lose I'm a happy camper. (And I picked Nevada so it helped my bracket! lol)

I have to admit that this has been an exciting Dance so far!  Buffalo? Wow.  Nevada beating Texas. Excellent. Wichita State getting beat? Boo Hoo!  Fun to watch!

  15. Bruce Rasmussen Interview on 1620 the Zone-Wow! It was really good and helped me to better understand the criterion for selecting the teams for the Big Dance. Bruce shared that Nebraska was in the mix to the very end. (Game Time with Nick Bahe - March 13 Seg 5: Bruce Rasmussen)

  17. Going through old newspapers I’ve kept relating to the Huskers. Ran across the OWH edition of Bo’s firing and laughed at these headlines:

Shatel: Eichorst Sounds Like a Man With a Plan

Shatel: Don’t Expect AD Eichorst to Flounder as Pederson Did in 03 (No he just set out to destroy our program!)

Chaitlain: Eichorst Proves He Understands NU Tradition, Standards (HUH?!)

I’ll bet both of these reporters cringe at these articles!

    2. whateveritis1224

      whateveritis1224

For those headlines.  Eichorst was a man with a plan (the plan ended up not working, but it was a plan).  Eichorst did not flounder like Pederson did in '03, he found a guy and hired him.  Again the hiring ended up back firing on him, but he did have a plan.

The Chatelain headline is one that does not work, but was there anything at that point that indicated that firing Bo was a bad move.  IIRC most fans were at the point ready for Bo to move on.

Hindsight is always 20/20 and I don't see a problem with 2 of the 3 headlines (with the Chatelain one coming off the fact that most of Eichorst's firing press conference was spent discussing the fact that while 9 wins was ok, we should be striving for more).

    3. Thanks_Tom RR

      Thanks_Tom RR

If Eichrost had a plan, he would have fired Bo the season before when Bo challenged him to do so. Eichorst did make a quick hire, but it was heavily questioned by all, though everyone agreed Mike was a "nice guy". To say we had to wait until hindsight before we could understand the missteps of those choices is misleading.

Also, it was well documented that the fan base was completely split about firing Bo.

    4. Thanks_Tom RR

      Thanks_Tom RR

Simply, if you had a plan and understood the standard of this program, you don't hire a perennial .500 coach.

I was hoping they would play better basketball against Maryland.  It looked like they were close for a time then Maryland just seemed to play a better game.  (Ewww you two!  Grow up PUHLEEZE!)

Hope, freedom and hard work are hard to beat if you have all three.  Our coaches are feeling the freedom that ADBM is bringing.  Players feel hope because coaches and fans are excited.  The best athletes want to work hard and be the best they can be.

We'll have a chance to beat Penn State again...and hopefully Ohio State in the B1G tourney.

Penn State shooting 78% from 3pt certainly helped. I liked what I saw from the Buckeyes even though they lost. They battled back and it took a last second shot for Penn State to win. Considering how the off-season went, they are still playing with house money at this point in the season.

Actually, the last game of the regular season is against Penn State.  I hope we bet the crap outta them!
