2. I know what's gonna happen here. he's gonna get this job. Have a good amount of success, and then cash it into a much higher level gig, having gained the experience and the calming necessary to have success at that level. And then Husker fans can cry and piss and moan again about how we shoulda kept him. LOL. I can see it coming. And it will be glorious times.
3. We had some dudes. And the thing about our walk-ons is that they werent walk-ons in terms of what we think of today. Our walkons then were dudes. Mackovickas has options. Terry Connealy had options. John Parella was recruited and committed to frickin Colorado in their hayday and then dropped a day before signing day. And, it was the hayday for high school talent in the state of Nebraska. Reggie Baul woulda been a freak in the offenses of today. There were ridiculous amounts of talent on those teams. Add that to the unmatched development, and that's why you had the freight train.
4. I think it would be interesting to see those defenses of the 90's face a true dual threat, with all the necessary elite tools (talent at other positions that is) that contributes to BOTH phases of his game, like Jalen Hurts. How many true dual threat qb's did we face in the day? The true dual thread/spread option qb-the passer that can run (not the athlete that can throw a little, like Frazier) didnt really start being prominant for another ten years. Michael Bishop, Kstate, is as close to a true dual threat that i can think of, to the degree of what we've become accustomed to in the game today. As dominant as we were, could you imagine how infinitely more difficult defending Florida's offense woulda been for us with a guy like Hurts? Or a Deshawn Watson or Lamar Jackson?
5. lol Why not? Bama waited like 18 years before they were back on top of the mountain and look where theyre at.
6. knowing Bo like we do, and then his kid's tweet about Nebraska paying for his tuition made after the wisonsin lost (which was quickly deleted by the way, for those who know nothing about it), it's safe to say Bo's top priority right now is just "sticking it to Nebraska" for every penny. Lay low. Pad his resume with success at his hometown school at the expense of a program he's had disdain for for a few years. He's a spiteful "ill show you f'ers" type of guy and was since day one. And his kid's tweet shows me he's pretty open about that attitude. Just like the players reaction to the firing and their feeling towards eichorst and their laughing and giggling during the goodbye meeting shows he was pretty open with the players about his attitude towards certain ppl and the program.
7. This is a debate that is going to happen at sometime. Records were made to be broken. If Bama rolls through these playoff as they have the last few weeks, the debate will be lefit. Just cuz it's us and we dont wanna hear it, doesnt mean it isnt meaningful. I still think 95 Nebraska would be the best. Simply because start to finish, it was the most complete. The competition is unmatched. Of course Bama has the opportunity to have two dominant wins over top 5 teams still. But they were also on the ropes and very easily coulda lost to a 5-7 Ole miss team, while Nebraska's closest game was a 35-21 win over Wash st. it was the only time in the regular season Nebraska trailed (7-0), and was on a fluke 80 yard TD run. and Nebraska carried 28-7 and 35-14 leads into the late stages, and the game was never as close as the score would indicate. Nebraska had 4 wins over top ten teams, WHO ALSO ALL FINISHED in the top ten (important, cuz Ole miss was rated pretty high when Bama almost lost to them. Judge a team on the body of work) by an average of 49-18. While this may be the most legit debate, it's still gotta go to 95 Nebraska. The overall body of work and so on. I know. I know. The love for SEC and Bama and media's uncanny ability to forget all history and prop up the moment for their own ego and ratings boost will all claim Bama is the best ever. I posted a status. i think it's funny going into these playoffs. Bama already being written off as untouchable, national champs and best ever. Unanimous favorites to win it all and not really be tested. it's what most i listen to are saying. While '95 Nebraska, with a much more impressive body of work going in, was underdogs because of grass. Oh how times of changed.
8. 2 of the best teams of all time. 1995 Nebraska-overwhelming deemed best ever. 2016 Bama. Difference? In respective "championship games", Bama is unanimous favorite, already deemed as best ever. 95 Neb? Underdogs because of grass.

9. penn st. doesn't seem to have worked out too bad Franklin went 7-6 and 7-6 and some people wanted him fired at 2-2 this season. So maybe we shouldn't fire Riley yet. Also note what happened when he finally had the right fit at qb for his and his OC's comfort level.
10. After another decent season, there may have been several teams looking at him. If this ends up happening I'm not shocked, I assumed he would be back in the FBS after a few years. And I think he will be more humbled and prepared for the job. maybe so. But i guarantee you it will not be because of his prowess or the thought that he may be better. it'll be because every tom, dick, harry program overreacts and fires coaches and is always looking for the next lightening in the bottle. We have a supply/demand issue of known high level coaches in college football right now. Wait are you talking about our program? (Sarcasm) I know youre being sarcastic. But i'm gonna go downt eh serious road here, cuz i know there are delusional folks here who believe we did overreact, and still feel somehow after a 7 year sample size of ridiculous amounts of underperforming consistency, that someday Pelini was gonna figure it out here. 7 years and a desire to take the next step and know what we have isnt gonna do it based on factual results was not an overreaction. And exposed character problems only proved the decision correct. Firing Les Miles was not an overreaction on LSU's part. He was there for 12 years and was on a downward trend. the program had gone flat, and LSU demands better. Oregon is an overreaction. Sure, Helfrich was on a down trend, but it's only 3 years in. Texas firing Strong is an overreaction i thought. Texas had engrained themselves into such an entitled sh#t culture that 3 years with a good coach like Strong is not enough. Kansas firing Gill after 2 years was an overreaction. Folks wanting james franklin gone after week 4 was obviously an overreaction. You dont see Michigan St pulling a trigger do you? Notre Dame?

13. The fact that penn st was ever even allowed to be in this position is everything thats wrong with college football. That program shoulda been dead. Straight up DEAD.

I respectfully disagree LoMS. You can make the arguement they didn't deserve the death penalty, but they certain;y deserved tougher than what they got. And then the NCAA lightens the sanctions and give JoePa his wins back.

PSU honored him at a game this year. I honestly can't wrap my head around that.

14. 1 more game cliser. 16 Bama or 95 Nebraska. A real debate is on the horizon. As of now, Nebraska still has a pretty decent lead.

Bama, basically the 33rd NFL team, struggles against Florida (the best the East could scrape up). Why is the SEC so well perceived again?

17. Stewartsthe one going. Our first replacement was a secondary coach Or is that too much common sense?
18. Jesus my god. We do this every other week it seems.
19. Stats. Meh. Watch the film and watch how he plays. Watch how he handles the position. This is the key in evaluati g someones abilities. Stats are far too dependent on the performance of others. Its why football is the ultimate team sport. Very little individualization whatsoever. The success of any player on any play is ALWAYS dependent the performance of others. No other team sport is like that.
20. If Youngstown St loses this week they will finish the season 9-4.

21. The word "shakeup" over "departure" makes me think a firing of some sort. Gosh. I dont know who? I mean, i could see Tavita leaving for a full time gig or something, but I dont see that being a shakeup.
