Like he just calculates what rating would go .500 against the teams that each team has played. That rating is your SOS, and can be ranked high-low to give your sos rank

You can also use a similar strategy to do your own resume-strength calculations. Take an arbitrary hypothetical top-5ish team rating (maybe like 95.00 or so? it literally doesn't matter) and calculate what % of the time that team matches a real team's actual record. The lower the %, the more impressive the resume, as that means their accomplishment was harder to do.
