Blackshirt96
HiSD--Is it possible that the coaches feel like the young man has some things to learn? Maybe this is a long-term lesson that's being taught here. I was thinking it was a great cover for a minor injury that would keep him out for a game. Quote Link to comment

kchusker_chris
this thread is still going? let's just chalk it up to Bo knowing we weren't going to throw against MSU, and therefore Turner wasn't going to be used. If we're going to pound the rock, Turner and his 160lb frame is the last person you want out there blocking. Hence Enunwa/Kinnie getting more time. end of story, lets not read into it any more than that. If he doesn't play against northwestern - then begin to speculate. Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
Maybe the coaches want to see more out of him but that is complete speculation. As for me I have definitely been wondering why Beck has not gotten him involved in the offense more i/e make more of a point of getting the ball into his hands. I still have a feeling JT will step up and make a big play down the road for us in a big game. Quote Link to comment

Turner isn't going to be able to man-handle anybody with his blocking and the previous game dropped a Charmin soft easy TD pass. He is electric and a great talent but just like everybody else he has to "earn" playing time. Not being able to block and dropping easy TD passes don't help. GBR!! Quote Link to comment

Nobody wants to talk about Northwestern for some reason. That is why this is still going on. How about that Dan Persa? Persamania gonna run wild on the Huskers! Quote Link to comment
HuskerCarter
Coach Fisher and Coach Beck laid out in very black and white terms why Jamal isn't seeing the field much. What's with the extra speculation? Folks just wanna kick the bee's nest. Quote Link to comment

Yeah really. With an outside running attack that we have, the receivers have to be able to block downfield. If he isn't big enough and constantly gets manhandled by bigger DB's or he doesn't have the technique down yet, then he isn't going to see a lot of playing time. Quote Link to comment

Yes. Turner is electric and has great talent but he's not built like N. Paul. Not even close. However, he has acted like N. Paul dropping an easy TD pass two games ago. Fisher has stated it is a "requirement" that our wrs catch the ball. Electric or not, you "must" catch the ball. I have no problem with that and hardly think it's "dumb" to play less electric players who "do" catch the ball and block somebody. Hey, he's a freshman and will learn. No biggie. He's just got to work on catching the ball. I doubt he'll never be a great blocker but maybe technique can compensate. I don't know. If not, he play in situations where his blocking isn't essential. Sorry AH, we're a "run-first" team. GBR!! Quote Link to comment
tschu
"Not being able to block"? Really? As has been alluded to, YES, REALLY. Blocking by the WRs is a huge part of our offense, and Turner's small size and inexperience are the reasons why he is not a good blocker as of right now. Quote Link to comment
bhunt7
It's not the first time that a major contributor has suddenly vanished from the 2 deep. Courtney Osborne also went from being a solid starter, to not even playing in scrub time. Phillip Dillard started as a Jr but was benched as a senior and also couldn't even get in during scrub time. Now the coaches have the right to not play who ever they want, it's just frustrating to see this keep happening under Bo's staff. Can anyone recall similar vanishing acts under our previous coaching staffs?. If not, what about other major college programs? Quote Link to comment

Are you talking about the same Phillip Dillard that was 2nd in tackles his senior season? 2 less than Suh? He got in, started last 9 games. And I think Turner is a very different situation. Think Curenski Gilleylen if you are looking for a guy that completely vanished. Quote Link to comment
