Hooked on Huskers
Kidding aside, I'll take 9 or 10 wins with a clean program for the rest of my life as compared to 12-14 wins with cocky, selfish players, illegal booster activity, coaches that are only here for the money, etc. How about combinations of 12 or 14 wins and clean program? YES ! Quote Link to comment
Huskerlambs
I guess what I'm saying is that I think Pelini is doing a good job. He was a first time coach, so he had a lot to learn (like controlling his temper while maintaining the fire). If he continues to post a winning record, graduates kids, and runs a clean program, are you willing to give him some time, or are you going to ride his @$$ every time he makes a mistake? This is nothing new in Lincoln, of course. They almost chased Devaney in 1968 when he went 6-4. They almost chased Osborne in 1976 when he went 9-3-1. Thank God they got some time to build their programs and learn on the job. I've lived and breathed Husker football since the day I was born. When Nebraska lost to Northwestern, trust me, no one wanted to talk to me for two days, but some of these posters want everyone fired seemingly every week. Were they alive during the 80's? We sure learned patience then. Perhaps, they were coming of age during the 90's, in which case, they might be spoiled rotten, and anything less than 12-0 is a fire-able offense. So my original question goes back to the state of the program. We're competitive again. We've been so close to winning two conference championships. It's only been four years with this coach. Why can't you cut the guy some slack? Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
Agreed. Austin is a negative nelly no doubt about that. However he raises some points a lot of people think but don't have the testicular fortitude to actually say it. Because hiding behind a computer requires balls. I get it...? Quote Link to comment
Axl_sued_me
Not if we can get a way with it. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
There is no reason to post things like this. If you don't like the thread, don't post in it. If you have a gripe about the person, take it to the Woodshed. Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
Penn State ran a clean program. Except for one thing. Which was enough to taint the previous 40 years. The lesson from pretty much every scandal is that college football can make certain people lose all sense of perspective. Quote Link to comment
Hammerhead
If you win with an unclean program, you're not really winning. Fair and square is the only way to do things. Quote Link to comment

BigRedPowerWagon
How can you not want a clean program. When you have problems or hide things they always come out in the end. No one wants to win at the price of those wins and championships being thrown out 5 or 10 years latter. It isnt worth it. Quote Link to comment

YES ! It's yet to be determined if this is even possible in today's age. Quote Link to comment
