Mavric
The Anti Te'o: On this Valentine's Day, the Cleveland Plain Dealer delivered a touching story of true, unconditional love. Ben Pike is a defensive lineman at Toledo. Or, he was on Toledo's football team. He has a year of eligibility left, but he's giving it up to tend to his fiancee, a former Toledo basketball player who battled with leukemia last year and found out on Jan. 25 it had returned. Pike has plans that are far more important than Division I football. He is going to graduate after this semester. He is going to marry Ashlee Barrett on June 15. He is going to see her through a bone marrow transplant and her second battle against leukemia. Yahoo Article Quote Link to comment

Notre Dame Joe
Questions Not Asked at the NFL Combine. For Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State: "Justin, what was going through your mind when you were arrested for your second DUI in 2 years, this time going 32 mph over the speed limit at 4:00 A.M.? For Mike Adams, Ohio State - "Mike, after getting your Coach fired and your school put on probation for the Tattoo scandal , did you have that 'uh-oh' moment when you were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and subsequently tested positive for marijuana here at the Combine?" For Chris Rainey, FLorida - "Chris, what were your thoughts when you text-ed that death threat to your ex-girl friend and arrested for felony stalking?" For Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama - "Dre, any comments you would like to make about your marijuana possession arrest record for the GM's of NFL teams out there?" For Bruce Irvin, West Virginia - "Bruce, where do we start? Did you have the feeling that your past problems of drug dealing and robbery arrests were behind you before your recent arrest for destruction of property at a Jimmy John's sandwich shop in Morgantown? Did they put too much mayo on your sandwich or what?" For Cliff Harris, Oregon. "Cliff, can you walk us through the sequence of events that led to your being arrested for marijuana possession, driving 118 miles per hour, driving with a suspended license, without a seat belt and without insurance? Take your time." For Jonathan Baldwin, Pittsburgh. "Jonathan, how have you responded to the arrest for indecent assault, harassment and disorderly conduct on a female student? Has it changed your approach to this draft in any way?" For Jamoris Jenkins CB Florida - Jamoris, do you think your multiple arrests for marijuana possession and then being tasered and arrested after a bar fight will affect NFL teams' opinion of you? And, has the fact that you have fathered four kids with three different women at such a young age come up in any of your team interviews?" For Marvin Austin, Greg Little, and Robert Quinn, University of North Carolina. "Guys, any second thoughts about having caused shame, embarrassment, probation and the loss of revenue for your school by taking thousands of dollars in improper payments, and if so, are your second thoughts only about getting caught or the wrongdoing?" Finally, for Cam Newton, Auburn. http://www.ndnation....d=319792;d=this Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
It's actually all just light for gm's to the fact that Manti Te'o is simple a mediocre LB at best. He was only in the position and light he was in because of the "story". Sorry NDJoe, but this is quickly becoming common knowledge. We would not even know who Manti Te'o is if it werent for Lennay Kekua and ESPN. Quote Link to comment

Count 'Bility
Manti Te'o is equal to Will Compton. Fact. I just dont even know if I'd consider that a compliment or insult to Will. I've said this all year seeing Te'o play. I've also said all year the ONLY reason he was even considered for the Heisman is because his grandma and girlfriend happened to die, and, as it turned out, the grandma was completely forgotten about and the g/f was fake. I still WTF??!! about this whole story everytime I think about it. Quote Link to comment

Te'o was an onfield coach as well as a captain with 36 more tackles than our #2 guy. I have no idea where his ability measures up in the NFL since lot's of big college names don't work out in the pros. But he'd be a Heisman candidate even if his name was Martin Terrance with a gf who turned out to be an escort. Quote Link to comment

Muck
But he'd be a Heisman candidate even if his name was Martin Terrance with a gf who turned out to be an escort. Complete drivel. He's a LB with average stats, nothing more. The thought that he should be a serious Heisman candidate was ludicrious from the outset. Without the media & ND desperately grabbing onto what they thought was a feel good PR goldmine nobody would have looked at him twice as a player. Quote Link to comment
