2013 starting lineup guesswork

Recommended Posts

hope someone bigger than williams starts at DT then again there will probably be a rotation of a lot of guys at that spot so it may not matter

I fully expect to see a healthy rotation, and there's no way Kevin Williams is the 275 he's listed as. I'm willing to bet he's at least in the high 280s by now.

I think Randle will start, and see a lot of time, if he's healthy.

My thoughts agreed with your first list except it was missing Randle and now you explained that here so +1

I have no idea where to start predicting special teams. I think we'll have a lot of talented players available. Charles Jackson was kind of a ST stud last year. We'll have guys like Michael Rose, Alonzo Moore, Daniel Davie, Jonathan Rose, ect. . that might not otherwise get a lot of playing time, but could contribute on special teams. It helps having depth at CB and LB.

The kicking game could be a concern. Kind of surprised it hasn't been talked about more. Maher had his struggles last year, particularly punting, but overall he was very solid over the last two years. We've been set at that position for what seems like forever. This year is a huge question mark.

I think ARod is a good linemen, just not at OT. I just don't believe he has the foot speed to handle a DE off the edge. He is much better off in the interior.

I'd say he would be above average in another system that doesn't pull as much as DONU does. Combo of poor foot speed and conditioning does not bode well for what Beck is trying to do.

Is there any chance that Brown starts at DE over Ankarh?

Not a chance. Brown would have to gain about 35 pounds.

Agreed. I know he is getting reps at DE, but I think it has to do with getting speed on the edges, and being prepared with multiple packages.

Seems to me like he will be used on third downs trying to get to the QB.

I think his best position is on the bench
