ShawnWatson
Good PR move by the Patriots, but I wouldn't trade the jersey in it is going to be worth some money. Quote Link to comment

TonyStalloni
I read earlier that the Pats have cut a large percentage of the money they owed him because of an ethics and behavior clause in his contract. Since most of the money in his bank account will go to lawyers, he won't have any left to challenge the decision in court. It would appear that karma has finally caught up with Mr Hernandez. Mavric
Boston police have been investigating whether jailed former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez may have been the gunman in a 2012 double slaying, according to a search warrant request released Thursday. Hernandez, who is awaiting trial on murder charges in a 2013 shooting near his home, was seen on surveillance footage in the same nightclub as the victims the night of the attack in Boston's South End, authorities have said. But the newly released documents confirm for the first time that police suspect Hernandez could have pulled the trigger.  A lawyer for Hernandez did not immediately respond to a request for comment.  No charges have been filed in the deaths of Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, who were killed on July 16, 2012, when somebody inside an SUV opened fire on their car. A third person was shot but survived.  In the affidavit and search warrant application released by Superior Court in Bristol, Conn., police write that there is probable cause to believe that Hernandez was driving the vehicle used in the shooting and "may have been the shooter."  ESPN Article Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Two of Aaron Hernandez's associates have been indicted on murder charges, a move that has major implications for Hernandez's case. Now, to convict him of murder, prosecutors will no longer have to prove that Hernandez pulled the trigger. This afternoon, a Bristol County grand jury returned indictments on Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz, charging them in the killing of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez had previously been the only one charged with murder, while Wallace and Ortiz had been charged with accessory to murder after the fact.  The bad news for Hernandez is due to Massachusetts's "joint venture" law, which holds all participants equally responsible for a crime if they "intentionally participat[e]" in its commission. Mavric
Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez was indicted today on two counts of first-degree murder for the killings of two men in Boston’s South End in 2012 who were shot to death after allegedly encountering Hernandez in a nightclub, two officials briefed on the case said. Hernandez is accused of murdering Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The two men were shot to death on July 16, 2012, while stopped at a traffic light by someone who drove up alongside them in an SUV with Rhode Island plates and opened fire. Hernandez already faced charges in the murder of Odin L. Lloyd of Boston, who was found slain in a North Attleborough industrial park near Hernandez’s home in June 2013. The new charges raise the disturbing possibility that Hernandez played games during the 2012-2013 season after murdering two men. Law enforcement officials are expected to discuss the case at an 11:30 a.m. news conference. Boston Globe Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Authorities investigating Aaron Hernandez for the 2012 double-murder on which he was indicted last week have put out a public call for help: They're looking to speak with tattoo artists who did work on Hernandez's right forearm, reportedly under the belief that Hernandez may have gotten some ink to commemorate his role in the shooting. Investigators are seeking to speak with any tattoo artists who provided Hernandez with specific tattoos on his right forearm between February 2012 and June 2013 as witnesses in the ongoing homicide case, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. During that time Hernandez is known to have traveled to Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Bristol, Conn.; Palm Beach and Miami, Fla; Boston and Rhode Island, but prosecutors are open to speaking with anyone who tattooed Hernandez' right forearm during those 17 months. The D.A.'s offense doesn't give detail on what it's looking for, but TMZ surmises that Hernandez's may have specific tattoos memorializing the drive-by shootings of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado on July 16, 2012—the less-obvious equivalent of a teardrop tattoo, as it were.
